Computer Society of India (CSI) is the first and largest body of Computer Professionals in India. It was started on 6 March 1965 by a few computer professionals and has now grown to be the national body representing computer professionals. Our Institute has joined as an Institutional Member of the Computer Society of India in the year 2014. We also have student chapters comprising of more than 75 students in this forum of computer professionals. Our Institute actively contributing to the growth of Computer professionals by organizing various events like Coding Contests, Workshops, Seminars, and Technical Talks. Knowledge Dissemination meeting is happening every fortnight to discuss the contributions in CSI Communications.

ACADEMIC YEAR 2024-2025

The National-Level Web Application Hackathon focused on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) was held on 28th and 29th March 2025. Organized by the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, RIT CSI Student Chapter, and the RIT Institution Innovation Council, the event aimed to encourage students to develop innovative web applications that address real-world challenges aligned with the United Nations SDGs. The hackathon was conducted over two days, with the first day dedicated to first-year students and the second day to second-year students. On 28th March, a total of 55 teams participated, were judged by RIT CSE faculty based on criteria such as creativity, technical execution, and impact on SDGs. The First Prize (Rs.1000) was awarded to Sameeksha A from Ramco Institute of Technology and Hari Ganesh R, Aanjeev Sarvesh R, and Harikrishnan Veerappan from Kalasalingam Academy of Research and Education. The Second Prize (Rs.750) was secured by Yogesh P, Vinoth P, and Sandeep Vinayakar S, also from Kalasalingam Academy. Each team showcased their projects and received valuable feedback from the judges. On 29th March, the event saw the participation of 50 teams from both internal and from external institutions. The projects were evaluated by Dr. S. Kavipriya, Associate Professor (Sr.Grade) from Mepco Schlenk Engineering College, who assessed them based on innovation, functionality, and real-world applicability. The First Prize (Rs.2000) was awarded to Jasmine P and Eswararaja P from Kalasalingam Academy of Research and Education. The Second Prize (Rs.1000) was won by Aruna Devi M, Muthumari, and Durgadevi M from Ramco Institute of Technology.The event concluded with a prize distribution ceremony and appreciation for all participants. The hackathon proved to be a successful initiative that nurtured creativity, technical proficiency, and awareness of sustainable development among young minds, encouraging them to build solutions for a better tomorrow.

The hands-on training on Group Discussion and Verbal Reasoning was conducted for III Year CSE-A and CSE-B students on 14th and 15th February 2025. It aimed to enhance students soft skills and aptitude for academic and professional success. The sessions were organized by the Department of English in collaboration with the Department of CSE, CSI, and the Advanced English Learners Club. The event took place at Language Labs A1L04 & A1L05. The training had two components: group discussion and verbal reasoning. Faculty-led group discussions covered topics like AI, technology, and work-from-home trends. English department faculty members observed, assessed, and gave feedback on students communication and confidence. Verbal reasoning was conducted through Google Form. Students received instant scores to identify strengths and improvement areas. The program effectively blended communication training with aptitude development.

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering, in association with the CSI Student Chapter of Ramco Institute of Technology, organized an event titled Escape Room Coding Challenge on 8th March 2025 at the CC4 Laboratory. The event was exclusively conducted for second-year CSE students with the aim of enhancing their logical thinking, problem-solving skills, and teamwork through an engaging and competitive format.. A total of 30 students participated in the event, forming 10 teams. The competition was thoughtfully structured into two rounds to test a wide range of skills from technical understanding to coding proficiency. The event was organized by the student coordinators Ms. Aruna Devi, Ms. Sri Prishigaa, Ms. M. Muthumari, Mr. Jayaseelan, and Mr. Lalith Krishna, all from II CSE. The winning teams are Ms. K. Sathyapriya, Ms. M. Pavithra, and Ms. A. Shenbagapriya, and the Runners-up is Ms. R. Sri Prishigaa, Ms. M. Arunadevi, and Ms. M. Muthumari of II CSE.

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Ramco Institute of Technology, Rajapalayam in association with Computer Society of India and Institution of Engineering, organized a Two-day Workshop on Hands-on Workshop on ML, DL and GenAI on 24.10.2024 and 25.10.2024. Dr.Sundarsun Sathiappan, Co-Founder and Chief Scientific Officer,Chennai, was the resource person for the workshop. Participants were exposed to topics like Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Types of Regressions and evaluation metrics, GAN, Generative AI and building NanoGPT. 114 students of second year CSE, CSBS, AIDS and IT departments actively participated in this program. Mr.K.Vignesh Saravanan, AP (SG)/CSE, Ms.G.Sakthi Priya, AP/CSE and Ms.P.Rajarajeswari, AP/CSE coordinated the event.

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Ramco Institute of Technology (RIT), in association with the Computer Society of India (CSI), organized the "Bug Busters" event on 14.10.2024. The event focused on testing and enhancing debugging skills, drawing 31 eager second-year students to participate. It aimed to sharpen the students abilities in identifying, analyzing, and resolving coding errors, which are essential skills for software developers. The event was coordinated by second-year students Ms. Pavithra M., Ms. Sathya Priya K., Ms. Janani Sri N. S., Ms. Anukeerthana N. S., and Ms. Sowmya M. Participants tackled various coding problems under time pressure, testing both their technical knowledge and problem-solving skills. The winning teams are Ms. K. Sathyapriya, Ms. M. Pavithra, and Ms. A. Shenbagapriya, and the Runners-up is Ms. R. Sri Prishigaa, Ms. M. Arunadevi, and Ms. M. Muthumari of II CSE.

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Ramco Institute of Technology, Rajapalayam in association with the CSI & RIT Alumni Association, organized a Guest lecture on Java API. The event was conducted on 05.10.2024, on CSE Seminar Hall. 105 students of II CSE A and B have participated in this event. This lecture was delivered by Mr. N. Dhiraj, Technical Member Staff, Zoho. Students were introduced to the fundamentals of Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) in Java, with a focus on web APIs such as REST, SOAP, and GraphQL.

Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Ramco Institute of Technology, Rajapalayam in association with the Computer Society of India (CSI) Student Chapter, organized an exciting Technical quiz event titled Buzzer Battle on September 23, 2024. The event was targeted at second-year students pursuing their Bachelor of Engineering in CSE. The primary objective of this event was to enhance students' quick thinking, problem-solving skills, and technical knowledge through a competitive quiz format. The event was coordinated by the student coordinators Mr.R.Anish kumar, Mr.P.Senthatti Kalai Pandian, Ms.R.Udhaya Sankari, Ms.A.Senbaga Priya, from II Year CSE. The winning team of the event was Mr.Lokesh Kumaran, Mr.Muneeswaran and Mr.Diliban and the runner-up position was secured by the team of Ms.Anjanadevi, Ms.Srilakshana, Ms.Padmapooja, II CSE

Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Ramco Institute of Technology, Rajapalayam in association with the Computer Society of India (CSI), organized an exciting technical event, "Code Quest: The Cipher Challenge," on 09.09.2024. This event was specifically designed for third-year CSE students, aiming to enhance their cryptography and programming skills. The challenge tested participants abilities to decipher encrypted messages and write code to automate the decryption process. The event saw enthusiastic participation from 30 third-year CSE students, who competed as teams. The event was coordinated by the student coordinators Ms. S. Narmadha, Ms. R. Deepikasri, Mr. M. Harihara Subramani, and Ms. S. Narayanamoorthy, III CSE. The winner of the event was the team of Ms.Abinayashree S V and Ms.Ramalakshmi K, III CSE A and the runner team was Ms.C Shakethyaa and Ms.Nivedhaponlakshmi A, III CSE B.

Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Ramco Institute of Technology in association with the Computer Society of India (CSI), organized a significant technical event, "Flash Build: HTML and CSS Time Trial," on 31st August 2024. This event was primarily targeted at third-year students of CSE. The event was organized by a dedicated team of students Mr. Gopala Krishnan, Mr. R.Subramani Raja, Mr.Pradeep, Ms.Hariprajaa, and Ms.Sriharidha, of III year CSE. The competition was meticulously judged by Dr. B. Vijayalakshmi, AP(SG)/CSE. The event saw an enthusiastic response from the III-year CSE students, with 20 participants competing as individuals. The winner of the event is Mr.Madhujith, III CSE B and the runner of the event was Mr.P.Sathasin, III CSE A.

Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Ramco Institute of Technology, Rajapalayam in association with the CSI Student Chapter, successfully hosted an event titled "Act and Execute like Unravelling Technical Terms" on 19.8.2024. This unique event was designed to enhance students' understanding of complex technical terms through a combination of creative expression and problem-solving tasks. The event was organized by Mr. S.Jayaseelan, Mr. K.Sandhib, Ms.Nithyasri S and Ms.J.K.Kaviyalakshmi of II CSE. The event consisted of two distinct rounds that challenged participants both creatively and analytically. Totally 42 Students of II-year CSE are actively participated in this event. The winning team is Ms.K. Sathyapriya, Ms.M. Pavithra, and Ms.A. Shenbagapriya of II CSE for their exceptional ability to convey the term, and the runner of the event was Ms.R. Sri Prishigaa, Ms.M. Arunadevi, and Ms.M. Muthumari.

Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Ramco Institute of Technology, Rajapalayam in association with the CSI Student Chapter, successfully organized the "UI Design Contest" on August 19, 2024. This event was aimed at promoting creativity and practical skills in user interface (UI) design among students, utilizing popular tools like Figma and Canva. The contest was organized by a diligent team of third-year CSE students: Ms. P. K. Asmitha, Mr. M. Muthushankar, Mr. R. Gokulraj, and Ms. G. Aishwarya. The event was judged by Ms. P. Jothithilaga, Assistant Professor (Senior Grade) in CSE, whose expertise in UI/UX design brought a professional perspective to the evaluation process. 34 Students from III year CSE actively participated in this event. The winner of the event was Mr. R.Saravanan, III CSE A for his exceptional design, which stood out for its innovative approach and seamless user experience and the runner of the event is Mr. R.Subramani Raja, III CSE B.

The Department of Computer Science and Business Systems, in collaboration with the Computer Society of India (CSI), organized an engaging panel discussion on the topic "Digital Marketing vs. Traditional Marketing" on 08.11.2024. Students from III Year and II Year CSBS participated in the session. The interactive discussion focused on the strengths, challenges, and future trends of both marketing approaches. It encouraged knowledge sharing, critical thinking, and active audience participation. The event was coordinated by Ms. K.T. Akshaya (III Year CSBS) and Mr. R. Perumal Dharshan (II Year CSBS), under the guidance of Dr. Jeya Sundari M., Assistant Professor, CSBS.

The Department of Computer Science and Business Systems at Ramco Institute of Technology (RIT), in association with the Computer Society of India, organized a Guest Lecture on the topic Efficient Java Coding Using Design Patterns and Collections The lecture was held on 28.10.2024, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM. The resource person for the event was Mr.Durgesh R K , Senior associate & Technical lead , Cognizant Technology Solutions India Pvt.Ltd . III CSBS & II CSBS students have participated in the lecture. The session focused on exploration of design patterns demonstrating how these patterns solve recurring software design problems and improve code scalability, readability, and maintainability. It will then delve into the Java Collections Framework, covering Lists, Sets, Maps, and Queues, with a focus on selecting appropriate data structures, optimizing performance, and handling large datasets effectively. The event was coordinated by Dr. S.Erana Veerappa Dinesh, ASP and Mrs.B.Yazhini, AP, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Ramco Institute of Technology, under the guidance of Dr. L. Ganesan, Principal; Dr. S. Rajakarunakaran, Vice-Principal; Mr. K. Selvaraj, GM (Admin); and Dr. M.Gomathy Nayagam, Associate Professor & Head of CSBS.

The Department of Computer Science and Business Systems at Ramco Institute of Technology (RIT), in association with the Computer Society of India, organized a Technical Paper Presentation Event for III CSBS & II CSBS Students on October 18, 2024. A total of twenty batches participated in this paper presentation event. S.Priyadharshini, and M.Banu of III CSBS got first place and V.Kamatchi of III CSE got II place. The event was coordinated by Mrs.B.Yazhini, AP, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Ramco Institute of Technology, under the guidance of Dr. L. Ganesan, Principal; Dr. S. Rajakarunakaran, Vice-Principal; Mr. K. Selvaraj, GM (Admin); and Dr. M.Gomathy Nayagam, Associate Professor & Head of CSBS.

The Student Chapter of RIT-Computer Society of India organized a SQL Hackathon on 25.09.2024 to help students improve their technical skillsA total of 12 students from III Year CSBS and 3 students from II Year CSBS participated in the quiz. Participants were given 10 SQL programming questions, each carrying 10 marks. There was no negative marking, and the total time allotted for the event was 1 hour. After the event, the students answers were evaluated. Sushma C, Sri Janani A, and Varshini S of III Year CSBS were declared the winners. Jayapradeepa M, Haritha M, and Priyadharshini S were the runners-up. . The event was coordinated by Ms. M. Banu (III Year CSBS) and Ms. K.R. Siva Priya (II Year CSBS) under the guidance of Dr. Erana Veerappa Dinesh S, Associate Professor, CSBS.

The Student Chapter of RIT-Computer Society of India organized a Technical Quiz on 12.09.2024 to help students improve their technical skills. The event was coordinated by Mr. G. Harihara Suthan (III Year CSBS) and Ms. V. Surya Lakshmi (II Year CSBS). A total of 8 students from III Year CSBS, 5 students from II Year CSBS, 6 students from II Year IT, and 3 students from III Year IT participated in the event. In Round I, participants answered 15 Java programming questions focused on error correction and output prediction. Round II included 10 Java programming questions where students had to complete missing parts of programs. Each question carried 1 mark, and there was no negative marking. The total duration of the quiz was 1 hour.After the event, students scores were evaluated. M. Poojha from II Year CSBS was declared the winner. K. Aravinth Kumar (III Year CSBS) and S. Gopi (II Year IT) were the runners-up.
