The Institution of Engineers (India)-Student Chapter IT
- Institute of Engineers (IE) student chapter plays a vital role in enabling the students to have activities of their own for improving technical and soft skills.
- The events like presentations, quizzes, group discussions, and talk on recent technologies and tools are regularly (weekly) held.
- The activities were planned in such a way that all students actively participate at least once in a semester.
- These activities help to prepare and mould the students to face the interviews, develop leadership capabilities, and inculcate their soft skills.
Our Institute has joined as an Institutional member of the Institution of Engineers (India) in the year 2014, the Institutional membership number is IM000312-5. The Institution of Engineers India IE(I) IT Students Chapter at Ramco Institute of Technology, Rajapalayam has been recognized as an authorized student chapter approved by The Institutions of Engineers (India), Kolkata, since November 2023.

The benefits of being a member of the students chapter are the following:
- Opportunity to participate in technical events e.g. Seminars, Symposia, Conventions, Workshops etc. organized by various IEI centres at State, National and International levels at a concessional rate of 20%.
- Access to library facilities at 110 state/local centres of institution across the country.
- Scholarships for selected student members will be given by IEI.
- Journals of IE(I) are available in soft copy through web and hard copy on concessional rate.
- Student members will be given preference in release of grants for their final year project/ thesis work and R & D grant from IEI.

The Department of Information Technology, in association with the RITInstitution of Engineers (India), organized an Aptitude Quiz Competition Genius IQ on 17.10.2025. This program helps in identifying natural strengths and weaknesses to guide educational and career choices towards paths where student is more likely to succeed and find fulfillment. Also it recognizes students strengths which can boost their confidence and morale. The event was coordinated by Ms. Nandhini S (IV Year IT), Mr. Saravana Kumar V and Ms. Pramila Devi D (III Year IT), and Ms. Shri Vethisha S (II Year IT). The participants were III Year IT students. The Winner of the event was Mr. Arjun G and the runner was Ms. Gayathri K of III Year IT. The event was organized by Mrs. G. Mareeswari, Assistant Professor/IT, and Mrs. G. Sivasathiya, Assistant Professor/IT, under the guidance of Dr. V. Anusuya, Associate Professor & Head/IT.

The Department of Information Technology, in association with RIT-Institution of Engineers (India), organized an inaugural event followed by a guest lecture on From Theory to Practice: Real-Time Applications of DSA on 04.10.2025. The resource person for the session was Mr. Rohinth R, Software Developer Engineer at Zoho, Chennai. The event aimed to bridge the gap between theoretical learning and practical applications by providing insights into the real-time use of Data Structures and Algorithms (DSA) in the software industry. The session helped students understand the importance of DSA in problem-solving, coding efficiency, and software development. Mr. Rohinth shared his industry experiences, explaining how DSA concepts are used in designing optimized solutions. The lecture was interactive and informative, inspiring students to strengthen their programming and analytical skills.The event was coordinated by Mrs. G. Mareeswari, AP/IT, and Mrs. M. Rethina Kumari, AP/IT, along with student coordinators Mr. Deena Thayalan P (IV IT), Ms. Poongothai S (III IT), Mr. Vimal S (III IT), and Ms. Varuna Shree A (II IT) under the guidance of Dr. V. Anusuya, Associate Professor & Head/IT. The students shared positive feedback, appreciating the insightful session and the practical knowledge gained from the resource person.

The Department of Information Technology, in association with RIT-Institution of Engineers (India), organized a Poster Designing Contest on 29.08.2025. The event was coordinated by Mr. Gowdhamaan M and Ms. Akshaya M of IV Year IT, Ms. Janani P and Mr. Dharanibalan R of III Year IT, Ms. Pooja Shree S of II Year IT. The participants of the events were from different departments of RIT, they were allowed to select any topics as per their choice and presented posters on a wide range of socially and technologically relevant themes. The participants showcased their creativity, research, and presentation skills, making the contest both engaging and thought-provoking. The winner of the event was Ms. Afritha. M of III Year ECE - A, Ms. Asma. M of III Year CSE - A, Ms. Kalaivani. M and Ms. Karthika. R of II Year ECE - A, the runner of the event was Ms. Kalaivani. M and Ms. Aishwarya of III Year ECE - A, Ms. Harini Sakthi, Ms. Bala Siravani of II Year ECE - A. This event was organized by Mrs. G. Mareeswari AP/IT, Dr. K. Palraj, ASP/IT and Mrs. P. The Department of Information Technology, in association with RIT-Institution of Engineers (India), organized a Guest Lecture on Azure Services and Cloud Architecture on 26.04.2025. The event was coordinated by the student coordinators Ms. Vijayalakshmi R, Mr. Praveen Kumar R of III-year IT students, Ms. Benitha Francy F and Ms. Meenadevi M of II-year IT students. The Guest Lecture was designed specifically for third year IT students, providing a comprehensive learning experience focused on Azure Services and Cloud Architecture. The resource persons from iLink Multi Tech Systems Mr. Thilak Raj I (Senior Technical Specialist) handled the session in an effective manner. Participants were introduced to key themes relevant to modern cloud computing and Azure services. This session aimed to equip students with foundational knowledge in Azure cloud architecture, enhance their technical skills in deploying and managing cloud-based solutions, and prepare them for real-world applications in the evolving field of cloud technology. This event was organized by Mrs. G. Mareeswari AP/IT and Mrs. A. Alagulakshmi AP/IT, under the guidance of Dr. V. Anusuya, Associate Professor & Head/IT. The students gave very good feedback about the event.

The Department of Information Technology, in association with the RIT Institution of Engineers (India), organized a technical event titled "Bit Battle" on April 19, 2025. This event was exclusively for third-year IT students to enhance their coding and problem-solving abilities, with a strong focus on Data Structures and Algorithms (DSA). Participants tackled a series of curated problems from LeetCode, aimed at strengthening their understanding of core DSA concepts while encouraging the development of optimized and efficient code solutions.The event was coordinated by Mr. Subramanian V and Ms. Swathi S from III IT, along with Ms. Sibiah R and Ms. Vidya K from II IT. Faculty support and guidance were provided by Mr. S. Sakkaravarthi and Mrs. A. Alagulakshmi, Assistant Professors in the IT department. The winners of the event were Sobana S, Harshini G, and Ananthi P, who demonstrated their exceptional coding and problem-solving skills.This initiative was organized by Mrs. G. Mareeswari, Assistant Professor/IT, under the guidance of Dr. V. Anusuya, Associate Professor and Head of the IT department.

The Department of Information Technology, in association with RIT-Institution of Engineers (India), organized a Guest Lecture on Devops and a Management:A Roadmap for Engineers on 12.04.2025 . The event was coordinated by Ms. Yazhini G, Mr.Veilmuthu Vairam P of III-year IT students. The Guest Lecture was designed specifically for third-year IT students, provided a comprehensive learning experience focused on Devops. The resource persons from A Berkshire Hathaway Company Mr. Tharun Ravi (Web Developer) handle the session in an interesting manner. Participants explored core DevOps concepts and modern software engineering practices, along with key management strategies. This session aimed to equip students with foundational knowledge in Devops and enhance their technical skills. This event was organized by Mrs. G. Mareeswari AP/IT, Mrs M. Rethina Kumari AP/IT under the guidance of Dr. V. Anusuya, Associate Professor & Head/IT. The students gave very good feedback about the event.

The Department of Information Technology, in association with the Institution of Engineers (IE(I) - IT), organized SCIENZIA25 on 1st March 2025. In the event the following activities were conducted- i) Pen Storm in the topic of AI & Robotics, Quantum Computing, Green Tech Revolution, Beyond Earth, ii) Rebrand Riot and iii) Mystic Hunt The event was coordinated by Ms. Thanishka Shree U, Mr. Suhail Ahamed M, of III year IT and Ms. Jeyadevi S, and Mr. Sesu Raj A, of II year IT along with faculty coordinator Mrs. G. Mareeswari AP/IT. The event engaged students from I, II and III year of IT Department. Participants received insights into developing and presenting their ideas effectively, focusing on both technical and presentation skills. The students were actively participated and gave very good feedback about the event.

The Department of Information Technology, in association with RIT-Institution of Engineers (India), organized a Guest Lecture on Graph Data Structure in Social Network Analysis on 21.12.2024 . The event was coordinated by Ms. Jeyalakshmi A, Ms. Saranya P, Mr. Dharanibalan R and Mr. Alagu Surya.S of II-year IT students. The Guest Lecture was designed specifically for second-year IT students, provided a comprehensive learning experience focused on Graph Data Structure in Social Network Analysis. The resource persons from Zoho Mr. Rohinith R (Software Developer Engineer) handle the session in an interesting manner. Participants were introduced to key themes relevant to modern software development engineering and Social Network Analysis. This session aimed to equip students with foundational knowledge in Graph Data Structure in Social Network Analysis, enhance their technical skills. This event was organized by Mrs. G. Mareeswari AP/IT, under the guidance of Dr. V. Anusuya, Associate Professor & Head/IT. The students gave very good feedback about the event.

The Department of Information Technology, in association with RIT-Institution of Engineers (India), organized a Mini Project Presentation Event on 23.11.2024. The event was coordinated by Mr. Sriram T, Mr. Sudhakar. M, Ms. Sibiah. R and Ms. Divya Sri. J. S of II-year IT. Totally 59 students of II year IT were participated in this event; they were allotted into 14 different batches with different problem statements belongs to the subject of Foundation of Data Science. Participants received insights into developing and presenting their projects effectively, focusing on both technical and presentation skills. This event was organized by Faculty coordinator Mrs. G. Sivasathiya, AP/IT and IE(I)- IT Faculty incharge Mrs. G. Mareeswari, AP/IT under the guidance of Dr. V. Anusuya, Associate Professor & Head/IT.

The Department of Information Technology, in association with Training and Placement centre and RIT-Institution of Engineers (India), jointly organized a Workshop on Software Testing and Advanced Automation Tools on 25.10.2024 and 26.10.2024. The event was coordinated by Ms. Ackshaya M, Mr. Prasath J, Ms. Sobika Joleen G.J and Mr. Alagu Surya.S of III-year & II -year IT students. The workshop was designed specifically for third-year IT students, providing a comprehensive learning experience focused on software testing and advanced automation tools. The resource persons are from Pyroferus Technologies Mr. Mohan (VP Business Development), Ms. Sujitha Solomon (QA lead) and Ms. Kalpana (QA Engineer). Participants were introduced to key themes relevant to modern software development and testing practices across various engineering domains. This session aimed to equip students with foundational knowledge in software testing methodologies, enhance their technical skills in using automation tools. This event was organized by Ms.K.Uthra/TPO and the Program committee members Mrs. G. Mareeswari AP/IT, Mr. M.V. Balaganesh AP/IT under the guidance of Dr. V. Anusuya, Associate Professor & Head/IT. The students gave very good feedback about the event.


The Department of Information Technology, in association with RIT-Institution of Engineers (India), organized a Poster Pioneer Contest on 21.09.2024. The event was coordinated by Ms. Thanishka Shree U and Ms. Jeyalakshmi A, Mr. Joel Paulraj M and Mr. Sesu Raj A of II- & III-year IT students. The event was planned to conduct commonly for the students belongs to all branch of our college. The participants were provided with the fundamental themes of todays popular technology moving around all the fields of engineering. This session aims to assess the participants with the fundamentals of editing Knowledge, Creative Skills and Designing Power. The winner of the event was Sanjay. S and Aravinthkumar. K of III year CSBS, the runner of the event was Kirran. S. T & Rasithmeeran. A of II year IT, second runner of the event was R. Balasankar and N. Sridhar of II year IT. The Department of Information Technology, in association with RIT-Institution of Engineers (India), organized a Tech Flicks Contest on 19.10.2024. The event was coordinated by Ms. Ashmitha. K. V and Mr. Subramanian V of III Year IT, Ms. Jeeva Sri M and Mr. Hari Bala Krishnan M S of II-year IT. The participants of the events were from 2nd year and 1st year IT students, they were allowed to select any films as per their choice and presented the ai technology used in that film in front of others. The event was really thoughtful and create different vision about the films from the students perception. The winner of the event was Ms. Jeya Devi. S and Poongothai. The Department of Information Technology, in association with RIT-Institution of Engineers (India), organized a Guest Lecture on Database Normalisation in Realtime Application in online on 29.06.2024. It was specially organized to inculcate knowledge among the students regarding Database Normalisation in Real Time Application. The entire B.Tech - IT II Yr class of 58 students actively participated in this event..The lecture was delivered by highly qualified and experienced Industry Person Mr.T. Karkuvelraja, Associate Vice President, Vibhathi Labs, Chennai. He explained the concept of Normalization, its various forms along with its relationship with the Real World Entities. Then he taught how to solve its different forms by quoting a practical example. The session was enlightening as it proved to be very fruitful and beneficial for all the students. This event showcased innovative solutions, and participants presenting their work to peers and subject experts. The workshop aims to provide in-depth knowledge and hands-on experience in the fields of AI and ML.The event was coordinated by Mr. Vijaya Ragavan S II IT , Ms. Shanmuga Priya V II IT, Ms. Kaviprabha G II IT, Ms. Janani P I IT, totally 56 students of II Year IT actively participated in this event.. Participants also gained valuable insights about the latest trends, tools, and techniques in these cutting-edge technologies. This event was organized by Mrs. G. The Department of Information Technology, in association with RIT-Institution of Engineers (India), organized a Knowledge Sharing Session on Git and GitHub on 07.06.2024. The event was organized by Ms. Samritha Sree Harini M and Ms. Swathi S , Mr. Rishi Kesavan K and Mr. Thirumurugan. A of II IT. 52 students of II Year IT participated in the event. The participants are provided with the insights about the fundamental concepts of Git repositories, branches, commits, and merges. This session aims to empower you with the fundamentals of Git, a powerful version control system, and GitHub, a popular platform for hosting Git repositories. The session was handled by Mr. Sri Saru Kumar. S and Mr. Harikrishnan. K. This event was organized by Mrs. G. Mareeswari, AP/IT under the guidance of Dr.V.Anusuya, Associate Professor & Head/IT.

The Department of Information Technology, in association with RIT-Institution of Engineers (India), organized an event named Identicalness on 30.05.2024. The student coordinator of the event was Mr. Banu Mathavan. V, Ms. Sobana. S of II Year IT and Mr. Muniraj. M, Ms. Harshini. M of I year IT.Participants in the identicalness event weregrouped into four batches, and student organizers project some images on the screen. The participant's job is to figure out the technical word linked with the images. There were three rounds in the competition. Each round had a distinct level of difficulty. The students learned some new technical terminology and shared their understanding of technical terms in growing domains like data science, Machine learning, Software architecture, etc as a result of this event.The students were actively involved in this technical. This event was organized by Mrs. G. Mareeswari, AP/IT under the guidance of Dr.V.Anusuya, Associate Professor & Head/IT.

The Department of Information Technology, in association with RIT-Institution of Engineers (India), organized an event named Technical Group Discussion on 04.04.2024. The contest is mainly organized to improve the communication skill of the students. The topic provided for the group discussion are fully technical. In total 20 students were actively participated; the students are participated in teams totally 4 teams each team with 5 members were participated. At last, two teams were selected and discussion was conducted among that two teams, each team was evaluated based on certain criteria and winner team of the event was selected. The student coordinator of the event was Mr. S. Sivamaharaj, Ms. G. Suba Lakshmi of II year IT Students, Mr. R. Dharanibalan and Ms. M. Meenadevi of I year IT. The Department of Information Technology in association with RIT-Institution of Engineers(I) -IT organized a Poster Designing Contest For I year and II year IT students on 21.03.2024. More than 20 students actively participated in this competition. The team of participants presented their poster with clear explanations. Mrs. G. The Department of Information Technology, in association with RIT-Institution of Engineers (India), organized an event named Aptitude on 08.03.2024. The II year IT students were participated in the quiz as an individual. The event was expertly managed by student coordinators including Mr. M. Suhail Ahamed, Ms. S. Sneha of II-year IT and Ms. J. Divya Sri, Ms. G.J. Sobika Joleen of I-year IT. An Aptitude Quiz is the event which is helpful in standardized evaluation, recruiting to measure a students intellectual capabilities, talents and probable work performance. The Winners of the competitions received a certificate from the event organizers. The certificates honoured their commitment and dedication towards the significant roles in making the event a success. This competition was successfully organized by Mr. M.V. Balaganesh, AP/IT under the guidance of Dr. V. Anusuya, ASP, the Head of Information Technology Department.

The Department of Information Technology, in association with RIT-Institution of Engineers (India), organized an event named Website design contest on 07.03.2024. The contest is mainly organized to assess the knowledge of students that they gained from the two days workshop on HTML, CSS and JavaScript. The contest aimed to foster creativity and technical skills among student participants by soliciting website design submissions. In total 60 students were actively participated; the students are participated in teams totally 30 teams each team with 3 members were participated. At last each and every design was evaluated based on certain criteria and winner and runner of the event was selected. The Student coordinator of the event was V.Banu Mathavan, V.Ajay, M.Gowdhamaan, and Harish. S of II year IT Students..The Question to design the website was prepared in advance and shared to the participants at the time of contest. The students was actively involved in incorporating the concepts learned in workshop to design the web page. the relevant topics of the workshop were very informative and are used currently in the industries.. Around 60 students of First Year IT attended the contest and also gave very good feedback. The winner of the event was Divyasri J.S and Gayathri. K team and runner of the event was Vijaykumar. R and Vignesh. S team. This Contest was organized by Mrs. G. Mareeswari, AP/IT under the guidance of Dr.V.Anusuya, Associate Professor & Head/IT.

The Department of Information Technology, in association with RIT-Institution of Engineers (India), organized a Two Day Workshop on HTML, CSS & JavaScript from 01.03.2024 to 02.03.2024. The main objective of conducting the workshop was to get students acquainted with the core concepts of HTML,CSS & Javascript, which would help them to design interative web pages and layouts of websites in innovative ways. First day, Second year IT students Mr. V. BanuMathavan, Mr. V. Ajay, M. Gowdhamaan gave lecture on basics of HTML tags and CSS used to design web-pages. Second day, Mr. S. Sakkaravarthi, AP/IT, gave lecture on javascript basics and demonstrated the students about how to validate the form data. Later on, interactive design of ecommerce websites were demonstrated like Amazon, Myntra, etc. The topics of the workshop were very informative and are used currently in the industries. The students can use the concepts learned during the workshop to create their own web pages. Around 60 students of First Year IT attended the workshop enthusiastically. This workshop was organized by Mrs.G. Mareeswari, AP/IT, Mr. S. Sakkaravarthi,AP/IT, Mr.M. V. Balaganesh, AP/IT under the guidance of Dr. V.Anusuya, Associate Professor & Head/IT.

The Student Chapter of IE(I)-RIT IT organized an Error Hunting event on 06.12.2023. The event was organized by Ms. Thanishka Shree U and Mr. Veil Muthu Vairam. P of II IT, Mr. Saravana kumar. M and Ms. Sibiah. R of I IT. 62 students of I Year IT participated in the event. The Error Hunting consists of 2 rounds. The participants are provided with moderated level technical questions from the programming language Python. The first round which consists of 10 MCQ Questions. Based on the performance in first rounds, 10 students were shortlisted for the second round. The second round consist of 2 programs with errors and sample output, students need to find the error and produce the correct output. The marks are awarded to the students based on the number of programs they solved. The students who solved maximum programs were awarded as winner and runners. Ms. Sobika Joleen. G.J won the event, Ms. Divya Sri J S became 1st runner up and Mr. Arjun. G became 2nd runner of year CSE, became runner up in the event.

The Student Chapter of IE(I)-RIT IT organized a Guest Lecture on Block Chain Technology on 29.11.2023. The resource person was Dr. M. Brindha, ASP/CSE, NIT Trichy. To make the students understand better, the resource person explained the concepts with real time examples. The session was very interactive and students got a chance to learn about various key terms in Blockchain. The event was expertly managed by student coordinators including Mr. S.
