DEPARTMENT OF COMPUTER SCIENCE AND ENGINEERING
ACM, the Association for Computing Machinery is the world's largest educational and scientific society, uniting computing educators, researchers and professionals to inspire dialogue, share resources and address the field's challenges. ACM strengthens the profession's collective voice through strong leadership, promotion of the highest standards, and recognition of technical excellence. ACM supports the professional growth of its members by providing opportunities for life-long learning, career development, and professional networking. Student and Professional Chapters are important components of ACM India. We have 195 student chapters and 16 professional chapters nationwide, including the Special Interest Group and ACM-W chapters, with the dual objective of creating a healthy competition among chapters and working toward a social cause.
Our Institute has started as an ACM Student Chapter in the year 2022. We also have student chapters comprising of more than 10 students and 3 faculty members in this forum of computer professionals. We plan to actively contribute to the growth of Computer professionals by organizing various events like Coding Contests, Workshops, Seminars, and Technical Talks and etc.

Events Organized 2024 - 2025
The Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Ramco Institute of Technology organized a Six-Day online Faculty Development Training Programme on Innovative AI Tools for Research Excellence from 27th January to 1st February 2025. The program featured 11 sessions conducted by esteemed resource persons from academia and industry, focusing on the application of AI tools to enhance research quality, data analysis, programming, proposal writing, patent development, academic writing, and task management. Highlights included practical demonstrations of platforms such as SciSpace, Research Rabbit, GitHub Copilot, Mendeley, and ChatGPT, showcasing how AI can accelerate literature reviews, streamline coding, improve data visualization, and automate reference management. The resource persons included Mr. Vignesh Saravanan K, Dr. Vijayalakshmi B, Mrs. S. Manjula, and Dr. T. Chockalingam from RIT; Dr. Joe Dhanith P. R. and Dr. Sujithra @ Kanmani R. from Vellore Institute of Technology, Chennai; Dr. Seema Narwal from Dronacharya College of Engineering, Gurugram; Dr. S. Kavipriya from Mepco Schlenk Engineering College, Sivakasi; Dr. Monica Bhutani from Vidhyapeeths College of Engineering, New Delhi; and Dr. Shilpa Saha from Manel Srinivas Nayak Institute of Management, Mangaluru. They provided hands-on training in AI-driven tools for writing, visualization, and patent development, while sessions on tools like PlantUML, Asana, and Notion emphasized improved documentation and academic productivity. The event was coordinated by Dr. R. Venkatesh, Associate Professor, and Mrs. K. Jeyakarthika, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, under the guidance of Dr. L. Ganesan, Principal; Dr. S. Rajakarunakaran, Vice-Principal; Mr. K. Selvaraj, GM (Admin); and Dr. K. Vijayalakshmi, Professor & Head, Department of CSE. This comprehensive training empowered faculty members with advanced AI techniques to enhance their research capabilities and academic excellence.

The Department of Computer Science and Business Systems, in collaboration with the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), organized an Webinar on the topic A State-Level Webinar on Business Intelligence Tools was organized on 28th February 2025 through an online platform. The session was open to both internal and external participants, promoting broad engagement and knowledge sharing. The resource person for the event was Mr. R. Sakthivel, a student from III Year CSBS (Computer Science and Business Systems). His session provided valuable insights into modern business intelligence tools, their applications, and real-world use cases, receiving positive feedback from the attendees coordinated by Mrs.B.Yazhini ,AP/CSBS and Dr.M.Gomathy Nayagam,ASP & Head /CSBS

The Department of Information Technology, in association with ACM Student Chapter jointly organized an online guest lecture on Cyber Security on 09.11.2024 for ACM Student members from III yr IT students. The Resource person of the guest Lecture Mr. Manavalan Muthusamy, Development Lead (Full Stack), UPS/Ex-BNY Mellon, Chennai. He provided a comprehensive overview of Cyber security. Also he delivered an overview of their professional journey and current role in cybersecurity, sharing insights from their work with major organizations and global cybersecurity initiatives. The speaker encouraged the audience to reflect on how these attacks could impact their own organizations and personal lives, emphasizing the need for proactive cybersecurity measures. The guest lecture was successfully organized and accomplished by the ACM student coordinators Ms. Thanishka Shree U III year IT and Ms. Jeya Devi S II Year IT. Mr. J. Prasath delivered the welcome address, Swathi S, Introduced the Chief Guest and at the end of the session, Ms. Jeya Devi S gave vote of thanks. This guest lecture was organized by Mrs. M. Rethina Kumari AP/IT, under the guidance of Dr.V.Anusuya, HOD/IT.

The Department of Information Technology, in association with ACM Student Chapter jointly organized a seminar on Modern App Development on 21.10.2024 for ACM Student members from III yr and II Year IT, CSE and CSBS. The Resource person of the workshop was Mr.P. Balakrishnan, Senior Android Developer, Zoho Corporation Pvt. Ltd. Around 66 students were actively participated in this seminar. The resource person gave an Introduction about the recent App development tools. All the participants were enthusiastically listened and signed-up the tool from their mail. Resource person shared his expertise on how to start a career as an Android developer and offered practical tips on cracking Android developer interviews to the participants. The seminar was successfully organized and accomplished by the ACM student coordinators Mr. R.Praveen Kumar III IT , Mr.G.Arjun II IT. Ms. S. Arthy compered, Mr. R.Praveen Kuamr delivered the welcome address, Ms.S. Sobana, Introduced the Chief Guest and at the end of the session, Ms. M. Valli gave vote of thanks. This seminar was organized by Dr. K. Palraj ASP/IT, under the guidance of Dr.V.Anusuya, HOD/IT.

The Department of Computer Science and Business Systems at Ramco Institute of Technology (RIT), in Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), organized, A guest lecture on Enhancing Supply Chain Collaboration and Integration through Effective Project Management was organized on 13th December 2024 through an online platform. The resource person for the session was Mr. J. Madhan Raj, B.E., Purchasing Manager SCM, Flex, Chennai. He shared valuable insights into the role of project management in streamlining supply chain operations, improving collaboration among stakeholders, and driving overall efficiency and integration in modern supply chains. The participants included all ACM members and III year CSBS Honours students. Around 30 students actively participated in the session. The event concluded with an interactive Q&A session, and certificates of participation were distributed to all attendees was coordinated by Mrs.B.Yazhini AP/CSBS along with ACM member Mr.Gokul Arun kumar,III CSBS.

The Student Chapter of RIT ACM CSE successfully organized its Inaugural Function along with a guest lecture by Mr. H R Mohan, IEEE Ambassador, Chair-Events & IMM, Past Chair of IEEE CS, ACM Chennai, and Former AVP Systems at The Hindu, Chennai, on 18th October 2024. Ms. Afridha Fathima Syed Ibrahim, a second-year CSE student, welcomed the gathering, followed by Mr. Mohanganesh M, also a second-year CSE student, introduced the chief guest. The chief guest, Mr. H R Mohan, then delivered an insightful presentation on Maximizing Your Career Potential: The Role of IEEE, CS, ACM, and Related Societies for the first and second-year CSE students. A total of 150 students participated in this guest lecture. Following this, Mr. Mohan provided valuable insights on "Navigating CS Curriculum 2023 & Strategies for Faculty on IEEE Journal & Conference Publications" for the faculty members of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering. The event was coordinated by Dr. R. Venkatesh, Associate Professor, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Ramco Institute of Technology, under the guidance of Dr. L. Ganesan, Principal; Dr. S. Rajakarunakaran, Vice-Principal; Mr. K. Selvaraj, GM (Admin); and Dr. K. Vijayalakshmi, Professor & Head of CSE. The inaugural function concluded successfully with a vote of thanks delivered by Ms. Mythri Vaishnavi K, a second-year CSE student.


The Student Chapter of RIT ACM CSE successfully organized an "Query Cracking" event for Second-year CSE students on October 14, 2024, organized by second-year CSE students Mr David W Joshua and Mr. Hari Krishnan C, II CSE. The event was coordinated by Dr.R.Venkatesh. Around 21 students actively participated in the session, which featured one technical debate round. The first prize was awarded to Anu Subiksha B G, Deepalakshmi M, and Sudharsanam P for their outstanding performance and innovative ideas. The second prize went to Rishikesh R and Sarveshwar P, while the third place was secured by Fadeullah M, Adarsh S, and Surendran P.

The Department of Computer Science and Business Systems at Ramco Institute of Technology (RIT), in Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), organized an The PyCode Clash, a coding competition, was organized exclusively for ACM members on 26th October 2024 in the CSBS Laboratory.The event was designed to test the coding skills and logical thinking of the participants. It comprised two rounds Round 1 and Round 2 featuring a variety of programming challenges.The event was successfully coordinated and managed by student in-charges: Haritha M, Harsetha V, and Pooja M.The competition saw enthusiastic participation and provided a great platform for students to showcase their problem-solving abilities and coding expertise.The event was coordinated by Dr.M.Jeya Sundari, AP/CSBS under the guidance of Dr. M.Gomathy Nayagam, Associate Professor & Head of CSBS.

The Department of Computer Science and Business Systems at Ramco Institute of Technology (RIT), in Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), conducted the AdZap event, focused on creating and presenting engaging tech advertisements, was held on 19th October 2024 at the RIT. It was conducted as an offline event, aimed at encouraging creativity and innovation among students.The event saw participation from II and III year students, with around 24 students actively taking part in the competition. Participants showcased their creativity through imaginative and impactful tech advertisements, blending humor, technical insight, and presentation skills.The event was efficiently organized by student in-charges: Anantha Bharathi, Mufrin Ashika, and Vaishnavi. The faculty coordinator for the event was Dr. S.Erana Veerappa Dinesh, ASP/ CSBS.

The Student Chapter of RIT ACM CSE successfully hosted an "Tech Debate" event for Second-year CSE students on October 07, 2024, organized by second-year CSE students Mr.Mohanganesh M, and Mr. Sarveshwar P. The event was coordinated by Dr.R.Venkatesh. Around 17 students actively participated in the session, which featured one technical debate round.

The Student Chapter of RIT ACM CSE successfully hosted a "Cryptography Puzzle Hunt" event for second-year CSE students on September 23, 2024. The event was organized by second-year students Ms. Mythri Vaishnavi K and Mr. Saravana Sanjay M, and coordinated by Dr. R. Venkatesh. Approximately 30 students actively participated in the session, which featured with one technical round. The first prize was awarded to Team Invisible, consisting of Ms. Asmitha P K and Ms. Puspakalai S, for their outstanding performance. Team Jollibee, made up of Ms. Jane Gracy D and Ms. Afridha Fathima Syed Ibrahim, won the second prize, while third place was secured by Team Sparkle, comprising Ms. Sakthi Sundari G and Ms. Shrija A.

The Student Chapter of RIT ACM CSE successfully hosted an "Hack Shield CTF" event for Third-year and First Year CSE students on September 21, 2024, organized by second-year CSE students Mr. Rishikesh, Ms Shrija A and Ms.Afridha Fathima Syed Ibrahim. The event was coordinated by Dr.R.Venkatesh. Around 32 students actively participated in the session, which featured two technical rounds. The first prize was awarded to Vijayalakshmi T for their outstanding performance and innovative ideas. The second prize went to Thirumoorthi R, while the third place was secured by Sivabalan S.

A workshop on High Performance Computing with the aim of fostering Awareness Workshop on High-Performance Computing (HPC) among students of Technical Education was organized by CSE ACM Student Chapter and Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Ramco Institute of Technology, Rajapalayam, Tamil Nadu on 03.09.2024 from 10:00 am to 01:00 pm at CSE Seminar hall. A comprehensive workshop on High-Performance Computing (HPC) was held, with 112 third-year and second-year CSE students participating. The event was coordinated by Dr. R. Venkatesh, along with Mr. Mohanganesh M, Ms. Dhivyabharathi G, and Ms. Sakthi Sundari G, II CSE student members of the ACM Student Chapter, under the guidance of Dr. K. Vijayalakshmi. The keynote speaker, Dr. S. Priyadharsini, CDAC-HPC Master Trainer from Mepco Schlenk Engineering College, Sivakasi, delivered an insightful session on key HPC topics, including OpenMP, MPI, CUDA, and OpenAcc, with practical examples.

The CSE ACM Student Chapter organized the "Debug Duel" for for third-year CSE on 19th August 2024, an event tailored & organized by for second-year CSE students to challenge and refine their debugging and problem-solving skills. Totally 22 students were participated this technical event. The event comprised two intense rounds, each designed to test different aspects of coding expertise. In the first round, participants were tasked with identifying and fixing errors in provided code snippets, showcasing their understanding of basic debugging techniques and ensuring code correctness. Out of the 21 talented students who participated, Girisankar G emerged as the winner, demonstrating exceptional debugging and optimization skills. Hariprajaa B secured the second position with his strong analytical abilities, and Tharani M claimed the third spot, showcasing his proficiency in problem-solving under pressure. The event was coordinated by Dr.R.Venkatesh and guided by Dr. K. Vijayalakshmi, HOD-CSE.

The Student Chapter of RIT ACM CSE successfully hosted an "QUIZMOSIS" event for second-year CSE students on August 19, 2024, organized by second-year CSE students Mr. Rishikesh and Mr. Hari Krishnan C. The event was coordinated by Dr.R.Venkatesh and guided by Dr. K. Vijayalakshmi, HOD-CSE. Around 32 students actively participated in the session, which featured two technical rounds. The first prize was awarded to Krishnapriya R and Murugeshwari R for their outstanding performance and innovative ideas. The second prize went to Dhivyabharathi G, while the third place was secured by Fadelullah M.
