The Institution of Engineers (India) IE(I) is a statutory body to promote and advance engineering and technology, established in 1920 and incorporated by the Royal Charter in 1935. It is the largest multi-disciplinary professional body of engineers encompassing 15 (fifteen) engineering disciplines and serving the nation for more than 9 decades. Our Institute has joined as an Institutional Member of the Institution of Engineers (India) in the year 2014. IE(I) student chapter is established on 07.08.2015.
The Institution of Engineers India IE (I) ECE Students Chapter at Ramco Institute of Technology, Rajapalayam has been recognized as an authorized student chapter approved by The Institutions of Engineers (India), Kolkata, since November 2020. Various activities like workshops, Webinars, Competitions, etc., are conducted from IE(I) for the benefit of student members to showcase and improve their skills.

Totally 51 ECE students are members in IE (I) student chapter.

The benefits of being a member of the IE (I) students chapter are the following:

• Participation in various Technical Activities of the student's chapter.
• Opportunity to meet fellow engineers for professional interaction.
• Technical papers presented in the Seminar and Technical Sessions by students are awarded in the Annual Convocation and Technicians/ Students Convention.
• The Students Chapters may participate in Regional Conclave to be organized in the emerging field of engineering by engineering college region wise.
• The opportunity to participate in technical events e.g. seminars, Symposia, Conventions, Workshops, etc were organized by IEI State/Local Centres.
• The Students Chapter Newsletter is distributed amongst the Chapter members which is sent to the advisers. IEI Students Chapter Newsletter may be also browsed through org
• Access to library facilities at State/Local Centres of the Institution across the country
• The National Design and Research Forum (NDRF) a peripheral body of the Institution conduct the students Design Competition every year amongst the student members studying in engineering colleges of the country. Apart from a certificate, the awardees are being given Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals in each engineering discipline. (http://www.ndrf.res.in)
• The best three technical papers presented in the Seminar and Technical Sessions by student members of Engineering College Students Chapters are awarded in the Annual Convocation and Technicians/ Students Convention.

Back to the History of Invention

IE(I) Students Chapter of ECE Department organized a technical event A video-based Quiz Back to the History of Invention on 04.12.2020 for II & III year ECE students through Google forms. About 25 students participated in this technical event. The event was organized by A.Monisha, III year ECE and S.Abinaya, II year ECE co-ordinated by Mrs.M.Sangeetha, AP/ECE.

Internet of Things Using Broadcom BCM 2837

Value Added Course on INTERNET OF THINGS USING BROADCOM BCM2837 was organized by IE (I) Student Chapter ECE in association with the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering from 30.11.2020 to 10.12.2020 for III year ECE Students in our college. The course was conducted for 30 hours duration in online platform via Google meet. Mr. B. Kannan, Assistant Professor(S.G.)/ECE, and Mr. A. Rameshbabu AP/ECE were the course coordinator of the programme. Mr.B. Lakshmanakumar, Technical Engineer of M/s.Enthu Technology Solutions India Pvt. Ltd., was the external resource person and gave the basics of LoRaWAN technology.

Quiz on "Basic Electronics"

IE(I) Students Chapter of ECE Department organized a technical event Quiz on Basic Electronics on 07.11.2020 for II & III year ECE students through Google form. 24 students were participated in this technical event. Technical Objective type questions were posted using Google form. The event was organized and co-ordinated by Mr.K.Ragavan AP(SG)/ECE.

Webinar on Recent Trends in Medical Electronics

IE(I) Students Chapter of ECE Department organized a Webinar on Recent Trends in Medical Electronics on 20.10.2020 for II & III year ECE students. Mr.G.Guru Prasandh, CEO & Founder of Medsby Healthcare Engineering Solutions, Coimbatore is the resource person for the webinar. Around 65 students participated in this webinar. The webinar was organized by the student coordinators R.Divya Shree, B.Keerthika II year ECE and faculty coordinator Mrs.R.Ramalakshmi, AP/ECE.

Technical Film show

IE(I) Students Chapter of ECE Department organized an Event Technical Film show on 17.10.2020 for II & III year ECE students through Google meet. 22 students participated in this Technical event. The event was organized by Mr.S.Nithish Balaji, III year ECE and Mr.P.Deepak Chakravarthi, II year ECE and coordinated by Mrs.V.SrirengaNachiyar, AP(SG)/ECE.

Poster competition on Technical Ideas

IE(I) Students Chapter of ECE Department organized a Poster competition on Technical Ideas on 13.10.2020 for II & III year ECE students. 9 students were participated in this Non-Technical event. The event was organized by K. Sukuna , III year ECE and K.Akilandeswari, II year ECE and coordinated by Mr.S.Vijayakumar, AP/ECE.

Webinar on How to Prepare a Resume

IE(I) Students Chapter of ECE Department organized a Webinar on How to Prepare a Resume on 02.10.2020 for II & III year ECE students through Google meet. 62 students participated in this Non-Technical event. This event was handled by a resource person Mr.M.Anish Alfred Vaz AP(SG)/English from Ramco Institute of Technology. The event was organized by J.Ninel Bert Costa, III year ECE and G.Manjula, II year ECE and coordinated by Mr.A.Azhagu Jaisudhan Palani, AP/ECE.

Circuit Debugging

IE(I) Students Chapter of ECE Department organized a technical event Circuit Debugging on 19.09.2020 for II & III year ECE students through Google meet. 25 students were participated in this technical event. Technical questions were presented using Power point presentation. The event was organized by S.Krishna Veni, III year ECE and K.R.Asiba Mina, II year ECE co-ordinated by Mrs.R.Chitra, AP/ECE.

IE(I) Students Chapter of ECE Department organized a Webinar on How to Present A Paper on 29.08.2020 for II & III year ECE students through Google meet. 31 students participated in this Non-Technical event. This event was handled by a resource person Mr.M.Anish Alfred Vaz AP(SG)/English from Ramco Institute of Technology. The event was organized by S.Keerthana, III Year ECE A and M.Jaya Mahima, II Year ECE A, and coordinated by Mr.R.Deivanayagam AP/ECE.

Interactive talk on Career Paths for Electronics and Communication Engineers

IE(I) Students Chapter of the ECE Department organized an Interactive talk on Career Paths for Electronics and Communication Engineers on 25.08.2020 for various School students through Google meet. 55 students were participated in this event. RIT Alumni shared their experience with the school students. The event was coordinated by Mr.K.Ragavan AP(SG)/ECE and Mr.R.Deivanayagam AP/ECE.

Technical Quiz Grade UP

IE(I) Students Chapter of ECE Department organized a technical event Technical Quiz Grade UP on 22.08.2020 for II & III year ECE students through Google meet. 29 students were participated in this technical event. Technical Objective type questions were presented using Quizizz platform. The event was organized by Ms.V.Alphina Christy-III Year ECE A co-ordinated by Mr.D.Gopinath, AP/ECE.

RIT Buds meets RIT Glowing Alumnus

IE(I) Students Chapter of ECE Department organized an event RIT Buds meets RIT Glowing Alumnus on 19.08.2020 for various School students through Google meet. 50 students were participated in this event. RIT Alumni shared their experience to the school students. The event was co-ordinated by Mr.V.Rajesh AP/ECE and Mr.P.Venkatesh AP/ECE.

THINK AND TELL Technical Connection Game

IE(I) Students Chapter of ECE Department organized a technical event THINK AND TELL Technical Connection Game on 12.08.2020 for various School students through Google meet. 49 students participated in this technical event. Technical questions were presented using Powerpoint presentation. The event was co-ordinated by Mr.A.Rameshbabu, AP/ECE, and Mr.G.Gopinath, AP/ECE.

Workshop on Introduction to Firebird Robot

IE(I) Students Chapter of ECE Department organized a Workshop on Introduction to Firebird Robot on 10.08.2020 for various School students through Google meet. 49 students were participated in this event. A hand on session about Firebird Robot was given to the school students. The event was co-ordinated by Mr.B.Kannan AP(SG)/ECE and Mr.P.Gunasekaran AP/ECE.
