NCC OATH

PLEDGE

FLAG

THE INTER-SERVICE CHARACTER OF THE NCC IS REFLECTED IN ITS FLAG. THE NCC FLAG WAS INTRODUCED IN 1954. THERE ARE THREE COLOURS IN THE FLAG, NAMELY, RED, NAVY BLUE AND SKY BLUE, FROM LEFT TO RIGHT (WHEN YOU ARE FACING THE FLAG). THE RED COLOUR IS FOR THE ARMY, NAVY BLUE FOR THE NAVY AND SKY BLUE FOR THE AIR WING. THE LETTERS NCC WRITTEN IN GOLDEN YELLOW COLOUR IN THE CREST ARE ENCIRCLED BY A BLOSSOMED LOTUS WREATH. THE TWO DOTS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE UPPER END OF THE WREATH REPRESENT THE TWO PREMIER TRAINING INSTITUTES OF THE NCC, I.E., THE OFFICERS TRAINING ACADEMY AT KAMPTEE, FOR TRAINING MALE ASSOCIATE NCC OFFICERS AND WOMEN OFFICERS TRAINING ACADEMY AT GWALIOR, FOR TRAINING LADY ASSOCIATE NCC OFFICERS AND INSTRUCTORS.


About NCC

NCC (National Cadet Corps) is a Tri-Services organization the Army, Navy and Air Force, engaged in grooming the youth The Leaders of tomorrow into disciplined and patriotic citizens. After independence the present day NCC under the Ministry of Defence came into existence on 16 Apr 1948 through NCC act XXXl,1948.

NCC was formally inaugurated on 15 Jul 1948 as soon as the schools and colleges reopened after summer vacation. Now there are 17 NCC directorates that has been established all over India. In 1950 Air Wing was added on 01 Apr with one Air Squadron each at Bombay and Kolkata.

At present, there are 58 Air Squadrons i.e. 47 Flying Squadrons & 11 Technical Squadrons. Now at present there are 47,578 SD Cadets and 11,489 JD Cadets all over India except in Jammu & Kashmir. The major objective of the air wing is to create interest among the youth of the country in aviation activities. In the Flying Squadrons, Besides normal training, cadets are imparted training in gliding/Microliter activities.

The cadets are imparted basic knowledge in aviation subjects like Aerodynamics, Navigation, Airmanship, Meteorology and Aero engine.

The camp training constitutes the most important part of NCC training where they are taught camaraderie, team work, self-reliance and dignity of labour among cadets.

Various camps conducted by the NCC are Annual Training Camps(ATC), Centrally Organized camps(COC), leadership camps, Vayu sainik camp (Air Wing Cadets), Nau sainik camp (Naval wing cadets), Rock Climbing camps, National Integration Camps (NIC), Thal Sainik Camp (TSC) Republic Day camp (RDC) & Prime Ministers(PMs) Rally and other attachment training camps.

NCC IN RIT

NCC Senior Division Army wing was established in our institution in affiliation with 5 TN Sig Coy NCC, Rajapalayam with a sanctioned intake of 50 cadets. The main objective of raising NCC is to develop organized, trained, and motivated youth. As a Cadet being in NCC for a period of three years, he/she will be privileged to attend various training camps, drills which will develop his/her overall qualities. The candidates with NCC 'C' certificate will have special entry schemes for joining Indian armed forces and are called directly for SSB interview. The students enrolled for NCC will undergo drills, training, and camps as per NCC requirements to appear for B and C certificate examination. These cadets will undergo regular parades, training as per NCC norms for a period of three years. The cadet must have attended a minimum of 75% of total training periods laid down in the syllabus for the first and second years for Senior Division/Wing NCC to appear for the B certificate exam. Based on that, a training timetable which includes parade classes as well as theory classes was prepared and submitted to the unit.

The National Cadet Corps is headed by a Director General, an Army Officer of the rank of Lieutenant General, who is responsible for the functioning of the National Cadet Corps in the country through the National Cadet Corps Headquarters situated at Delhi. At the State Level, the country has been divided into 17 Directorates covering all States and Union Territories. Each of the State National Cadet Corps Directorate Headquarters controls two to fourteen Group Headquarters. While Directorates are commanded by Brigadiers or their equivalents, the Groups are commanded by Colonels or equivalents from the Air Force and the Navy, NCC Units are commanded by Major/Lieutenant Colonel or their equivalents.
