The Institution of Engineers (India)-Student Chapter - CSE
- Institute of Engineers (IE) student chapter plays a vital role in enabling the students to have activities of their own for improving technical and soft skills.
- The events like presentations, quizzes, group discussions, and talk on recent technologies and tools are regularly (weekly) held.
- The activities were planned in such a way that all students actively participate at least once in a semester.
- These activities help to prepare and mould the students to face the interviews, develop leadership capabilities, and inculcate their soft skills.
Our Institute has joined as an Institutional member of the Institution of Engineers (India) in the year 2014, the Institutional membership number is IM000312-5. The Institution of Engineers India IE(I) CSE Students Chapter at Ramco Institute of Technology, Rajapalayam has been recognized as an authorized student chapter approved by The Institutions of Engineers (India), Kolkata, since October 2019.

The benefits of being a member of the students chapter are the following:
- Opportunity to participate in technical events e.g. Seminars, Symposia, Conventions, Workshops etc. organized by various IEI centres at State, National and International levels at a concessional rate of 20%.
- Access to library facilities at 110 state/local centres of institution across the country.
- Scholarships for selected student members will be given by IEI.
- Journals of IE(I) are available in soft copy through web and hard copy on concessional rate.
- Student members will be given preference in release of grants for their final year project/ thesis work and R & D grant from IEI.
Events Organized During 2025-2026
The Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Ramco Institute of Technology, in association with the IE(I) Student Branch, organized the National Science Day Project Exhibition on 25 February 2026 at Shri PRR Hall, with 141 students participating in 49 teams. The event showcased innovative hardware and software projects across domains such as AR/VR, IoT, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Science, 3D Printing, and Fabrication, reflecting strong interdisciplinary skills. Evaluated by faculty members from various departments, the exhibition provided valuable feedback and encouragement to participants. In the hardware category, Team Black Bulls (Nikil, Munnadi Siva Athithiya, Kanna Piran, Bharath) won first prize, followed by Team Chromatic UNO (Mukesh Bharathi M, Prabakaran S, Mahadevan Balaji C) as runners-up, and Team Packosort (Mohamed Halith S, Sugesh Kumar G, Ashwanth Jayan S, Uthaya Kaarthi S) secured third place. In the software category, Team Feed Hack (Sri Prishigaa R, Kaviya Lakshmi J K, Kamali Sri K S) won first prize, with Team Infinity (Thamizh Selvan G, Shaik Mohamed Ali S, Deva Shagaraj A) as runners-up, and Team AgriVerse (Shiva Dharshan) securing third place, while the Innovation with Impact award was presented to Team RIT EEE (Inbaraja H, Ajay Pandi M, Raj Kumar P). Overall, the event provided an excellent platform for students to demonstrate creativity, technical expertise, and innovation.

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Ramco Institute of Technology organized a technical event titled Tech Tussle on 25 February 2026 in collaboration with the Institution of Engineers (India). Held at the HPC Lab, the event witnessed enthusiastic participation from 58 students and was coordinated by Ms. G. S. Madhubala, Ms. R. Biruntha, Ms. S. Jeyaprabha, and Ms. R. Krishnapriya, under the guidance of Mrs. S. Vijaya Amala Devi and Mrs. S. Manjula. The competition featured two rounds a quiz-based spot decoding round and a C programming round aimed at enhancing students technical knowledge and coding skills. Winners and runners-up were awarded certificates along with participation certificates for all attendees. The first prize was secured by Ms. Priyadharshini P, the second prize was shared by Ms. Lalitha C and Ms. Kaviya S, and the third prize was won by Mr. R.S.Bhadresshvar

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Ramco Institute of Technology, in association with the IE(I) CSE Student Chapter and GeeksforGeeks Student Chapter, organized a guest lecture titled Email & Mobile Marketing in the Digital Era: Automation, Social Integration and Analytics on 21 February 2026 at the CSE Seminar Hall. The session was delivered by Ms. Sneha, Senior SEO Specialist at Techmango Technology Services Pvt. Ltd., who provided insights into email marketing strategies, automation workflows, lead generation, AI tools, and mobile marketing techniques including WhatsApp marketing, push notifications, and location-based targeting. Through practical examples and a hands-on activity, students designed sample email campaigns and proposed mobile promotion strategies, gaining a clearer understanding of how digital campaigns enhance customer engagement and business growth. The programme was conducted under the guidance of Mrs. P. Devisri and Mrs. S. Vijaya Amala Devi, with coordination by student organizers M. Deepalakshmi, J. K. Kaviyalakshmi, P. Sudharsanam, and S. Rasiga, ensuring the smooth execution of the event. A total of 101 third-year CSE students participated actively and engaged in an interactive doubt clarification session covering automation tools, campaign metrics, and career opportunities in digital marketing.

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Ramco Institute of Technology (RIT), in association with the Institution of Engineers (India) CSE Student Chapter, organized a guest lecture on Exception Handling and Code Management in RPA on 19 February 2026 at the CSE Seminar Hall for III Year students. The session, led by Mr. Rubesh Nagarajan, Engineering Specialist at Ness Digital Engineering, Bangalore, focused on enhancing students understanding of structured exception handling, debugging, error logging, and workflow optimization in Robotic Process Automation through practical demonstrations and industry examples. Conducted under the guidance of Dr. M. Swarna Sudha and Dr. K. Vignesh Saravanan, and coordinated by student organizers, the event saw active participation from 100 students who engaged in interactive discussions and gained valuable insights into real-world automation practices. Overall, the lecture effectively bridged the gap between academic learning and industry requirements, improving students technical skills and career readiness in RPA.

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Ramco Institute of Technology (RIT), in association with the Institution of Engineers (India), organized a technical debate titled Reel Riddle on 31 January 2026 at C2R06, with 30 students participating enthusiastically. Coordinated by second-year students Ms. N. Yazhini, Ms. K. Bhavadharani, Ms. Anuprapha, and Ms. Sriharini under the guidance of Mrs. S. Vijaya Amala Devi and Dr. K. Vignesh Saravanan, the event featured two rounds discussing Data privacy in the digital age and Prompt engineering as a skill. Judges Mrs. P. Sabeena Burvin and Mrs. R. Latha evaluated the participants, and winners were awarded certificates, with Ms. M. Arunadevi securing first place, Ms. A. Sameeksha and Ms. S. Kiruthiga winning second place, and Ms. K. S. Kamali Sri taking third place. The event successfully enhanced students technical knowledge, cssommunication skills, and confidence.

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Ramco Institute of Technology organized a technical quiz event titled Frame Quest on 10 January 2026 in collaboration with the Institution of Engineers (India). Conducted via the Kahoot platform, the event engaged 29 students from second year in three rounds that tested logical and analytical skills. The event was coordinated by Ms. S. Subhiksha and Ms. S. Judith Martina under the guidance of Mrs. S. Vijaya Amala Devi and Dr. K. Vignesh Saravanan. Certificates were awarded to winners, runners-up, and all participants. The first prize was won by Ms. S. Siva Sangeetha, Ms. S. Anu Bharathi, and Ms. B. Akshaya Harshini, while the second prize was secured by Ms. K. Ishwarya Shanthi, Sumitra, and Ms. K. Sri Bharathi.

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Ramco Institute of Technology (RIT), in association with RIT_CSE IEI, conducted a Value Added Course on Generative AI Project Bootcamp with Hackathon from 15th to 19th December 2025 for II Year B.E. CSE students. The five-day program aimed to provide hands-on exposure to Generative AI and emerging AI tools. The course was delivered by expert trainers from RAAM TechLink Pvt. Ltd., Chennai, namely Ms. B. Sasmitha, Founder, Ms. P. Akshaya, and Ms. P. Kayathiri, Generative AI Trainers. The sessions covered Generative AI fundamentals, LLMs, Google Gemini AI API, prompt engineering, Streamlit-based chatbot development, computer vision using YOLO and Roboflow, speech and image processing, and AI-powered document summarization. The final day featured project presentations, during which 21 teams showcased their innovative AI-based solutions. A total of 63 II Year CSE students participated and benefited from the program, which effectively enhanced their technical skills, problem-solving ability, teamwork, and practical understanding of real-world AI applications. The program was coordinated by Ms. G. Sakthi Priya, AP/CSE, and Mrs. S. Shunmugapriya, AP/CSE, under the guidance of Dr. K. Vijayalakshmi, HOD/CSE, RIT.

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Ramco Institute of Technology (RIT), in association with the IE(I) CSE Student Chapter, organized a Guest Lecture on Shaping Future-Ready UI/UX Professionals: Emerging Concepts & Industry Insights at the CSE Seminar Hall. The session was conducted on 23.09.2025 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM.The guest lecture was delivered by Mr. MathiSelvan C, Senior UX Designer at Techmango, who shared his expertise on the evolving landscape of UI/UX design and its critical role in shaping user-centered digital experiences.The event was coordinated by Mrs. P. Devisri (AP/CSE) under the guidance of Dr. K. Vijayalakshmi, Head of the CSE Department. The organizing team consisted of third-year students: Ms. P. Sudharsanam (III CSE B), Ms. B. G. Anu Subiksha (III CSE B), and Ms. C. Rajeswari (III CSE A), who contributed significantly to the successful execution of the event.The primary objective of the guest lecture was to enhance students understanding of UI/UX design principles, industry practices, and emerging trends. The session provided valuable insights into how design thinking, usability, and innovation play a vital role in creating impactful digital products. Mr. MathiSelvan emphasized the future scope of UI/UX professionals, highlighting the need for continuous learning, adaptability, and creativity to meet industry expectations. The interactive nature of the lecture encouraged students to ask questions and engage in meaningful discussions, thereby enriching their learning experience.The lecture was well-received by the participants, particularly the third-year CSE students, who gained practical knowledge and industry-oriented perspectives. The event served as a platform to inspire students to pursue careers in UI/UX design and related fields.

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) at Ramco Institute of Technology successfully conducted an industry lecture titled "Cloud Data Protection" on September 27, 2025. The event was held in the High Performance Computing Lab and featured Mr. Sakthivel S, a Senior Data Protection Architect from Zoho, Tenkasi, as the expert speaker.The lecture provided students with crucial insights into the evolving landscape of cloud security. Mr. Sakthivel delved into the core principles of data protection, discussing real-world challenges, advanced encryption methodologies, and the architectural frameworks used in the industry to safeguard sensitive information in the cloud. The session began with an introduction to the growing importance of cloud data protection. The speaker then detailed common vulnerabilities and threats in cloud environments, followed by a deep dive into proactive defense strategies and best practices. A significant part of the lecture was dedicated to the role and responsibilities of a Data Protection Architect, providing students with a clear perspective on potential career paths. The event concluded with a vibrant and interactive Q&A session, where students clarified their doubts regarding implementation challenges and industry requirements. The event was coordinated by Mr. V. Vivek (AP/CSE) and efficiently organized by the student coordinator, Ms. Sri Prishigaa R (III CSE A). The lecture was highly informative and was well-received by the participants, significantly enhancing their understanding of cloud security.

The questions were framed in the WayGround platform, offering participants an engaging and interactive quiz experience that tested their logical and analytical abilities.The session was coordinated by second-year students Ms. N. Yazhini, Ms. S. Subhiksha, Ms. S. Judith Martina, and Mr. S. Natarajansri under the guidance of Mrs. S. Vijaya Amala Devi, Assistant Professor/CSE, and Dr. K. Vignesh Saravanan, Assistant Professor/CSE.A total of 20 students from both first and second years of the CSE department participated enthusiastically in the event.
