The Institution of Engineers (India)-Student Chapter - CSE
- Institute of Engineers (IE) student chapter plays a vital role in enabling the students to have activities of their own for improving technical and soft skills.
- The events like presentations, quizzes, group discussions, and talk on recent technologies and tools are regularly (weekly) held.
- The activities were planned in such a way that all students actively participate at least once in a semester.
- These activities help to prepare and mould the students to face the interviews, develop leadership capabilities, and inculcate their soft skills.
Our Institute has joined as an Institutional member of the Institution of Engineers (India) in the year 2014, the Institutional membership number is IM000312-5. The Institution of Engineers India IE(I) CSE Students Chapter at Ramco Institute of Technology, Rajapalayam has been recognized as an authorized student chapter approved by The Institutions of Engineers (India), Kolkata, since October 2019.

The benefits of being a member of the students chapter are the following:
- Opportunity to participate in technical events e.g. Seminars, Symposia, Conventions, Workshops etc. organized by various IEI centres at State, National and International levels at a concessional rate of 20%.
- Access to library facilities at 110 state/local centres of institution across the country.
- Scholarships for selected student members will be given by IEI.
- Journals of IE(I) are available in soft copy through web and hard copy on concessional rate.
- Student members will be given preference in release of grants for their final year project/ thesis work and R & D grant from IEI.
Events Organized During 2025-2026
The Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Ramco Institute of Technology (RIT), in association with the IE(I) CSE Student Chapter, organized a Guest Lecture on Shaping Future-Ready UI/UX Professionals: Emerging Concepts & Industry Insights at the CSE Seminar Hall. The session was conducted on 23.09.2025 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM.The guest lecture was delivered by Mr. MathiSelvan C, Senior UX Designer at Techmango, who shared his expertise on the evolving landscape of UI/UX design and its critical role in shaping user-centered digital experiences.The event was coordinated by Mrs. P. Devisri (AP/CSE) under the guidance of Dr. K. Vijayalakshmi, Head of the CSE Department. The organizing team consisted of third-year students: Ms. P. Sudharsanam (III CSE B), Ms. B. G. Anu Subiksha (III CSE B), and Ms. C. Rajeswari (III CSE A), who contributed significantly to the successful execution of the event.The primary objective of the guest lecture was to enhance students understanding of UI/UX design principles, industry practices, and emerging trends. The session provided valuable insights into how design thinking, usability, and innovation play a vital role in creating impactful digital products. Mr. MathiSelvan emphasized the future scope of UI/UX professionals, highlighting the need for continuous learning, adaptability, and creativity to meet industry expectations. The interactive nature of the lecture encouraged students to ask questions and engage in meaningful discussions, thereby enriching their learning experience.The lecture was well-received by the participants, particularly the third-year CSE students, who gained practical knowledge and industry-oriented perspectives. The event served as a platform to inspire students to pursue careers in UI/UX design and related fields.

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) at Ramco Institute of Technology successfully conducted an industry lecture titled "Cloud Data Protection" on September 27, 2025. The event was held in the High Performance Computing Lab and featured Mr. Sakthivel S, a Senior Data Protection Architect from Zoho, Tenkasi, as the expert speaker.The lecture provided students with crucial insights into the evolving landscape of cloud security. Mr. Sakthivel delved into the core principles of data protection, discussing real-world challenges, advanced encryption methodologies, and the architectural frameworks used in the industry to safeguard sensitive information in the cloud. The session began with an introduction to the growing importance of cloud data protection. The speaker then detailed common vulnerabilities and threats in cloud environments, followed by a deep dive into proactive defense strategies and best practices. A significant part of the lecture was dedicated to the role and responsibilities of a Data Protection Architect, providing students with a clear perspective on potential career paths. The event concluded with a vibrant and interactive Q&A session, where students clarified their doubts regarding implementation challenges and industry requirements. The event was coordinated by Mr. V. Vivek (AP/CSE) and efficiently organized by the student coordinator, Ms. Sri Prishigaa R (III CSE A). The lecture was highly informative and was well-received by the participants, significantly enhancing their understanding of cloud security.

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Ramco Institute of Technology (RIT), in collaboration with the Institution of Engineers (India), successfully organized an engaging technical event titled BrainByte (Puzzles) on 7th October 2025 at the HPC Lab.The event consisted of two rounds, and the top 10 participants from the first round advanced to the final round. The questions were framed in the WayGround platform, offering participants an engaging and interactive quiz experience that tested their logical and analytical abilities.The session was coordinated by second-year students Ms. N. Yazhini, Ms. S. Subhiksha, Ms. S. Judith Martina, and Mr. S. Natarajansri under the guidance of Mrs. S. Vijaya Amala Devi, Assistant Professor/CSE, and Dr. K. Vignesh Saravanan, Assistant Professor/CSE.A total of 20 students from both first and second years of the CSE department participated enthusiastically in the event. Winners and runners were honored with certificates, and participation certificates were distributed to all participants.Winners List:First Prize: Ms. S. V. Durga Mikila, Ms. S. Devadharshini.Second Prize: Mr. B. Ravikumar, Ms. S. Kiruthiga.
