DEPARTMENT OF COMPUTER SCIENCE AND ENGINEERING
Computer Society of India (CSI) is the first and largest body of Computer Professionals in India. It was started on 6 March 1965 by a few computer professionals and has now grown to be the national body representing computer professionals. Our Institute has joined as an Institutional Member of the Computer Society of India in the year 2014. We also have student chapters comprising of more than 75 students in this forum of computer professionals. Our Institute actively contributing to the growth of Computer professionals by organizing various events like Coding Contests, Workshops, Seminars, and Technical Talks. Knowledge Dissemination meeting is happening every fortnight to discuss the contributions in CSI Communications.

Events Organized in 2022-2023
Ramco Institute of Technology, Department of Computer Science and Engineering in association with CSI students chapter organized Paper presentation event on Technical related topics on 08.03.2023. Nearly 25 participants including First year CSE, IT,CSBS and second year students participated in this event. The student co-ordinators of the event was Ms. S, Gayathri Devi of III CSE and Mr. M. Vignesh Prabhu of II CSE. Students came up with their Powerpoint presentations and performed well. After the each presentation there was an query session where the questions were asked by the judges, Each team is evaluated based on their performance. The winner of the event was Ms. Sanjanasri of I year CSBS and the runner of the event was Mr. Ashwath I year CSE.

RIT-CSE in association with CSI conducted a workshop on "Gaming in Python" for I year CSE students on 18.01.2023. Mrs.M.Swarna Sudha, AP(SG)/CSE, and Mrs.S.Manjula, AP/CSE, served as workshop resource persons. They delivered the topics such as fundamental concepts of the tkinter interface, GUI methods, and a hands-on session on creating a GUI for gaming applications. In addition to that simple logical games that were created using tKinter were explained. In the query session students clarified various doubts and ideas regarding the tKinter with the resource person. As a summary of the whole session resource persons revised all the concepts and properties that were covered throughout the session.

The Student Chapter of RIT-Computer Society of India organized a Technical Quiz event on 17.11.2022. It has enhanced their technical skills. The event was organized by Ms.M.vidhya Tharini of IV CSE, Mr.P.Sivakumar of III CSE, Mr. L. Satheesh Kumar of II CSE. 15 students of I Year CSE, 19 Students of I Year CSBS, 11 students of I Year IT, 11 Students of II Year CSE participated in the event. Enba Sankar S, I Year CSE, Akshaya M from I Year IT, Srijanani A from I Year CSBS, Shanmuga Priya M, II Year CSE won first prize in the event. S Janarthanavel, I Year CSE, Vijayasarathy R, II Year CSE, Swathi S, Thanishka Shree U from I Year IT, Siva Karthick S and Aravinth Kumar K from I Year CSBS won second prize in the event.

In Ramco Institute of Technology, Rajapalayam, the Department of Computer Science and Engineering in association with RIT-CSI organized a Guest Lecture on Use of Data Structures in Real Life Problems on 16.11.2022 at 10.00 am for II year CSE, ECE, and EEE of 225 Students. The resource person of the guest lecture is Dr. T. Manikandan, Assistant Professor, School of Computer Science, Engineering and Technology, Bennett University, Greater, Delhi Area. He briefly explained about the Need of Data Structures in real life and described the various data structures such as Arrays, Linked List, Stack, Queue, Trees, Graphs and Heaps and also explained the real world use of each data structures in day to day activities such as adding mobile phone contacts, google map, database, cybersecurity in detail. The objective of the guest lecture is the students to understand the importance of data structures in real life. At the end, he encouraged the students to do interdisciplinary project.

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering, RIT inaugurated the Computer Society of India Students Chapter on 30.09.2022 (Friday). Mr. Ramesh Babu Vellaichamy, Director- Sr.Global Sales, Cloudely Inc, USA. Has the chief guest of the function and delivered the chief guest address. He also shared his experience as an entrepreneur. Totally 99 students of Department of Computer Science and engineering have participated in an Inaugural function. The office bearers of RIT-CSI were introduced and the secretary of RIT-CSI Ms. Jeyadharshini from IV CSE Elaborated the annual plan of CSI chapter.

Department of computer science and engineering and Computer society of India (CSI) along with RIT career guidance cell organized a motivational talk on career development for II and III year CSE students. The resource person is Mr. Ramesh Babu Vellaichamy, Director- Sr.Global Sales, Cloudely Inc, USA. This guest-lecture was organized by Mrs.T.Shruthi, AP/CSE under the guidance of Dr.K. Vijayalakshmi, prof. & Head/CSE.
The resource person agenda is to elaborate on the student's engineering and technologies trends. Students were excited to learn the diverse engineering roles from him. He showed a road map to students, on how to plan and practice and succeed in careers. He motivated the students to decide the focus, read more about it and do some certification to get more skills in the area. Once the students get trained in a particular area they might feel confident to face the industry. He introduced students to various perspectives on the field and engineering. His explanation helped the students to understand what the industry expects from students. A major part of his presentation focused to explain the industrys perspectives and needs. Not only the technological advancements he also discussed India and its place in the Global Economy. Global & great technocrats and what they say. This wide range of content inspired the students a lot. It made them understand what they must do to enter and sustain and progress in their career in the industry. The students interacted with the speaker well and they felt the talk is much valuable and needed by every student. They were all attentive and enjoyed the whole presentation.

The Student Chapter of RIT-Computer Society of India organized a Coding Hackathon event on 15.09.2022 in order to celebrate Engineers' Day. The event was organized by Ms. L. Venesha and Mr. Satish Kumar of III CSE, Ms. M. Gomathi Lakshmi and Mr. M. Vignesh Prabhu of II CSE. 59 students of II Year CSE participated in the event. The Coding Hackathon consists of 3 rounds. The Pre-qualifier round which consists of 25 MCQ Questions. The 1nd round is the programming round. Based on the performance in first two rounds, 15 students were shortlisted for the final round. The final round is the coding hackathon, which contains five problem statements. For students who have solved the maximum number of problem statements, marks were awarded according to their programme output. K.Thilothamai, 2nd year CSE, won the event and S.Selvarooba, 2nd year CSE, became runner up in the event.

The Student Chapter of RIT-Computer Society of India organized a Technical event PYCHAMP on 24.02.2022. It has enhanced their technical skills. The event was organized by Ms.K. Kamini of III CSE, and Mr.P.Sivakumar of III CSE. 24 students of I Year CSBS, participated in the event. Ms. Kamatchi of I year CSBS was the winner of the event. The runner of the event was Mr. Arumugam of I year CSBS.
