INSTITUTION OF ELECTRICAL AND ELECTRONICS ENGINEERING (IEEE)
IEEE is the worlds largest technical professional organization dedicated to advancing technology for the benefit of humanity. IEEE was founded in 1884 with Alexander Graham Bell and Thomas Edison among its charter members. Today, IEEE serves over 4,00,000 members worldwide. Over 1,00,000 Student and Graduate Student members worldwide make up 25% of the membership of IEEE and are essential to its continued growth and vitality. Not only is IEEE the worlds largest technical and professional society, it also publishes a significant amount of the electrical engineering and computer-science literature in the world.
IEEE worldwide membership is geographically divided into ten Regions. These Regions are further divided into Sections that serve as the centres of activity for professional engineers at the local level. An IEEE Student Branch is a basic operating organizational unit of an IEEE Section or Region, constituted by a minimum of twelve (12) IEEE members of Student Member or Graduate Student Member grade at a particular college, university or technical institute to represent and fulfil the needs of the members and the missions of IEEE. Each Branch shall conduct its activities within the Constitution, IEEE Bylaws, MGA Operations Manual, and other rules externally imposed, which by law affect the membership, and activities of the IEEE.
We established IEEE Student Branch at our institution in the academic year 2018-19, with the student members of 20 Nos. from EEE department. To enhance the students skills in several aspects such as workshops, poster presentations, paper presentations and other technical events. The branch code for RIT-IEEE Student branch is STB11408.
