Extension Programme Details
The Department of Computer Science and Engineering, in association with the GeeksforGeeks Student Chapter, organized a one-day online workshop titled From Ideas to Apps: UI/UX Design for Young Minds on 24.04.2026. The workshop witnessed an overwhelming response, with 181 students from various schools participating enthusiastically.The sessions were handled by Dr. M. Swarna Sudha, ASP/CSE, Mrs. S. Manjula, AP (SG) /CSE and Mrs.P.Devisri AP/CSE.Participants were introduced to the fundamentals of UI/UX design, including design thinking, wireframing, and the principles of creating user-friendly digital experiences. The afternoon session featured a hands-on workshop using Figma, where students designed their own app interfaces and interactive prototypes.The workshop provided an engaging platform for students to enhance their creativity, problem-solving skills, and digital design knowledge. It successfully inspired young minds to transform their ideas into innovative app designs while gaining practical exposure to industry-relevant tools and techniques.

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Ramco Institute of Technology (RIT), Rajapalayam, in association with the Google Gemini Student Ambassador Program, successfully organized a technical event titled Pixel-Latency Legacy on 6th January 2026 at the High Performance Computing Lab.The event was coordinated by Mr. V. Vivek, Assistant Professor/CSE, and was conducted by Ms. K. Mythri Vaishnavi, Google Gemini Student Ambassador. The program witnessed active participation from 35 second-year CSE students (Sections A, B & C).The session focused on AI prompt engineering and advanced image generation techniques using Google Gemini, emphasizing how structured prompts can produce highly realistic outputs. Key concepts such as pixel-level accuracy, lighting effects, texture detailing, liquid physics, and visual realism were explained with practical examples, enabling students to understand the impact of prompt design on AI-generated results.A major highlight of the event was the hands-on image recreation challenge, where participants worked in teams to reproduce given reference images using only text prompts. This activity enhanced students ability to describe complex visual elements such as composition, color, depth, and texture with precision. The session provided valuable exposure to real-time experimentation, allowing participants to refine their prompts and observe the variations in output quality.The event was highly interactive and encouraged collaborative learning, critical thinking, and creativity. It significantly improved students understanding of Generative AI tools and motivated them to explore innovative applications in areas such as digital design, visualization, and problem-solving.

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Ramco Institute of Technology (RIT), Rajapalayam, in collaboration with the Google Gemini Student Ambassador Program, successfully organized a workshop titled Make AI Talk The Gemini Edition on 24th January 2026 at the Project Lab (CC4).The session was coordinated by Mr. V. Vivek, Assistant Professor/CSE, and was conducted by Ms. S. Dhurkadevi and Ms. M. Arunadevi, III Year CSE (Section A), with the support of the faculty & Student coordinators. The event witnessed active participation from 65 students across multiple departments, including third-year CSE students.The workshop focused on Conversational AI and chatbot development using Google Gemini, providing participants with a strong foundation in Artificial Intelligence, Prompt Engineering, and Large Language Models (LLMs). The session introduced students to the evolution and capabilities of Google Gemini, including its multimodal features for processing text, images, code, and other data formats.The program included live demonstrations using Google AI Studio, where students learned how to design and test effective prompts. A major highlight of the workshop was the hands-on session on Gemini APIs, where participants gained practical experience in building and interacting with AI-powered chatbots. These enabled students to understand real-world implementation of conversational AI systems.The workshop was highly interactive and provided a balanced combination of theoretical concepts and practical exposure. It significantly enhanced students technical skills, problem-solving abilities, and creativity, motivating them to explore AI-driven applications and projects.

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering, in association with the GeeksforGeeks Student Chapter, organized a one-day workshop titled Talk to AI Like a Pro: Introduction to Prompt Engineering on 30.04.2026. The workshop witnessed enthusiastic participation from 34 students representing various schools, including Chinmaya Vidyalaya Matric Higher Secondary School, Nadar Matric Higher Secondary School, Sri Rao Bahadur A.K.D. Dharmaraja Girls Higher Secondary School, P.S. Chidambara Nadar Senior English School, Kshatriya Vidya Sala English Medium School, Viveka Matric Higher Secondary School, and Oxford Matric Higher Secondary School. The session was handled by Mrs.P.Rajarajeswari, AP/CSE. Participants were introduced to the fundamentals of prompt engineering, including effective prompt structuring, the importance of clarity and context, and techniques for obtaining accurate and meaningful responses from AI systems. The afternoon session featured hands-on activities, where students explored real-world applications of artificial intelligence. They practiced crafting prompts for different scenarios, refined AI-generated outputs, and learned how prompt design can influence the quality of responses. The workshop provided an engaging platform for students to enhance their creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. It successfully inspired young minds to explore the exciting possibilities of artificial intelligence and develop practical skills in communicating effectively with AI tools.

The Department of CSE in association with the IE(I) Institution of Engineers (India), organized a two days hands on Workshop on the topic Augment your Imagination: Build your AR world to 48 school students who have completed XII standard from P.A.C. Mat. Hr. Sec. School, P.A.C.R Ammani Ammals Gr. Hr. Sec. School, A.K.D.R Gr. Hr. Sec. School, Ananda Vidhyalaya Matric. Hr. Sec. School, Perundhalaivar Kamarajar Matric. Hr. Sec. School, N. A. Annappa Raja Memorial School, Hindu Hr. Sec. School, Sri Ramana Vidhyalaya Mont. Matric. Hr. Sec. School, Srivi Lions Matric. Hr. Sec. School, The Sivakasi Matric. Hr. Sec. School, Chinmaya Vidhyalaya P.A.C.R School, Nadar Hr. Sec. School, Vinayagar Matric. Hr. Sec. School, A. P. Matriculation School, SHN Edward Hr. Sec. School, and CVSLR Matric Hr. Sec. School. The workshop took place on 28.04.2025 & 29.04.2025 from 09:30 AM to 4:30 PM. The resource person for the event was Ms. P. Rajarajeswari, AP/CSE, Ramco Institute of Technology. With extensive experience in Augmented and Virtual reality, Ms. P. Rajarajeswari provided valuable insights in transitioning students from an academic environment to a corporate setting. The sessions were coordinated by Dr. M. Swarna Sudha, ASP/CSE, Mrs. S. Manjula, AP(SG)/CSE, and Mrs. C. Krishnakala, AP/CSE.

Department of Computer Science and Engineering, in association with CSI Students Chapter and RIT-Clustra organized Workshop on Mastering Design for school students during 01.05.2024 - 02.05.2024. 30 school students of XI and XII standards from various schools were actively participated in this programme. The primary objective of the workshop was to introduce school students to the fundamentals of design and empower them with the skills to create visually appealing graphics for various purposes. At the end of the workshop, participants had the opportunity to showcase their designs created during the sessions. The participants expressed that the programme was very much interesting and informative. e-certificates were distributed to all the participants. The sessions were handled and coordinated by internal faculty members Ms.P.Jothi Thilaga, AP(SG)/CSE, Mrs.S.Manjula,AP(SG)/CSE, Mr.K.Vignesh Saravanan, AP(SG)/CSE. Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science and Business Systems in association with IE(I) CSE, CSI Student Chapter ACM Student Chapter Organized Python Boot camp for IX, X, XI, XII school students during 10.04.2023 to 13.04.2023. 47 school students of IX, X, XI, and XII standards from various schools were actively participated in this programme The sessions on Python Boot camp were handled and coordinated by internal faculty members Mrs.M.Swarna Sudha, AP(SG)/CSE Mrs.B.Vijayalakshmi, AP(SG)/CSE, Dr.S.Erana Veerappa Dinesh, AP/CSBS, Ms.G.Sakthi Priya, AP/CSE, Mrs.K.Jeya Geetha , AP/CSE, and Mr.R.Dhamotharan, AP/IT. Quiz was also conducted at the end of each session. The participants expressed that the programme was very much interesting and informative. e-certificates were distributed to all the participants. Department of Computer Science and Engineering in association with Institution of Engineers (IE-CSE) Students Chapter of Ramco Institute of Technology , organized five days Python Boot camp for IX, X, XI, XII School Students from 06th June 2022 to 10th June 2022. More than 90 students from 36 different schools in Virudhunagar, Madurai Districts participated. Students were taught Python Programming with modern pedagogic techniques like Quizzes, Videos, hand-on-session that helped the students to enjoy online learning. One alumni student of our department interacted at each session. Students felt that the program was very useful to start their Engineering career. The sessions on Python Boot camp were handled and coordinated by internal faculty members Dr.V.Anusuya ASP/CSE, Mrs.M.Swarna Sudha AP(SG)/CSE, Mrs.B.Vijayalakshmi, AP(SG)/CSE, Ms.G.Sakthi Priya, AP/CSE under the guidance of Dr.K.Vijayalakshmi, Professor & Head/CSE. The participants expressed that the course was highly informative and useful.

Department of Computer Science and Engineering in association with CSI Students Chapter, RIT Clustra, and IIC organized a Five Day Programme on Road Map to Interactive Website Development for school students from 13.06.2022 to 17.06.2022. 51 students were registered for this programme and 28 students of IX, X, XI, and XII standards from 17 schools were actively participated in this programme. The sessions were conducted and coordinated by Dr.V.Anusuya, ASP/CSE, Dr.R.Venkatesh, AP(SG)/CSE, Ms.P.Jothi Thilaga, AP/CSE and Mr.C.A.Yogaraja, AP/CSE. Quiz was also conducted at the end of each session. The participants expressed that the programme was very much interesting and informative. e-certificates were distributed to all the participants. Ramco Institute of Technology, CSE Department organized the Meetpukkarangal NGO visit on April 14 2021 to Lights of light situated in Rajapalayam.About 25 students from II CSE and Mrs M.Swarna Sudha Assistant Professor(SG) visited the orphanage and conducted competitions to the children like lemon in the spoon, musical chair, filling the water in paper cup and interacted with children . And also all children were given awards and prizes. Students provided bed sheets to the orphanage children and arranged lunch with the help of the funds provided by HOD, faculty and students. Children and students actively participated in all events and the day was memorable.

Department of Computer Science and Engineering in association with CSI Students Chapter organized a Five Day Programme on Graphics Design for school students from 21.06.2021 to 25.06.2021. 47 school students of IX, X, XI, and XII standards from various schools were actively participated in this programme. The resource persons of the programme are Ms.S.Yeshwanthini, Ramco Cements (2017-2021 Batch) and Mr.S.Sankara Chockalingam, Lab Technician/CSE. The sessions were coordinated by Dr.M.Kaliappan, Prof./CSE, Dr.S.Vimal, AP(SG)/CSE and Ms.P.Jothi Thilaga, AP/CSE under the guidance of Dr.K.Vijayalakshmi, HOD/CSE. The participants were actively attended the sessions and expressed that the programme was very interested and informative. e-certificates were provided to all the participants.

The department of Computer Science and Engineering, Ramco Institute of Technology conducted a one-week training program on Host your Own Website from 31.05.2021 to 05.06.2021 through online mode. 92 students of 9th std. 12th std. from various schools have participated and got benefited. Mrs.M.Swarna Sudha, AP(SG), Mr.C.A.Yogaraja, AP, and Dr. I Gethzi Ahila Poornima, AP of the CSE department handled the hands-on session to create your own website and host it on the Internet. Ms.P.Rajarajeswari of Final year CSE students suggested the school students to follow the RIT website, Facebook, and Instagram to know the various activities which will be conducted by RIT in the future.

Department of Computer Science and Engineering in association with CSI Students Chapter organized a Six Day Programme on Game Development using Green Foot for school students from 17.05.2020 to 22.05.2020. More than 95 school students of IX, X, XI, and XII standards from various schools were actively participated in this programme. The sessions were conducted and coordinated by Mrs.M.Swarna Sudha, AP(SG)/CSE, Mrs.B.Vijayalakshmi, AP(SG)/CSE, Mrs.N.Nithya, AP/CSE and Ms.P.Jothi Thilaga, AP/CSE. Technical events were also conducted at the end of each session by alumni students. The participants expressed that the programme was very interested and informative.

The department of Computer Science and Engineering organized an Extension program for Polytechnic Students titled Computer Hardware servicing and Networking (Network Termination) to the ECE students of S.Thangapazham Polytechnic College, Vasudevanallur on 12.03.2021. The lab technicians of the Computer Science and Engineering department gave the lecture on Network Configuration, Installing OS, Printer and Scanner Installation and configuration and identification of the system layout, Network Termination. 46 students with 4 faculty members of S. The Thangapazham Polytechnic College got trained and benefited.

Extension Programme - NGO Activities
The students of B.E first year, (2019-2023 batch) of Ramco Institute of Technology, are making a giant leap to create history by running an NGO Meetpukkarangal.
Recently, the NGO visited Vallalar illam, Mamsapuram, Sriviliputtur, on 15.01.2020 for Pongal celebration with the orphanage children and conducted many fun events and games like Ball throwing, Music and dance, balloon cracking etc., and offered care and support to the needy children.

On 26th January 2020, Meetpukkarangal, have scheduled themselves to take place at Elwin centre, CSI School for the mentally retarded, Satchiyapuram, Sivakasi. They conducted events like running race, ball picking, Rangoli of National Flag, Standup the flag in the sand. Such events imparted happiness to needy children and boosted their confidence.

The students of B.E second year, (2018-2022 batch), joined many of their friends on board and started the NGO Maatrathai Vidhaipom. The NGO believes in the upliftment of our society by joining hands and serving, helping the children with their basic needs like clothes, mattresses, bedsheets, footwear and life skills such as functional knowledge, environment and lifestyle.At present the NGO has been conducting many events like conducting fun-games, motivational speech and offering quality foods and clothes for the children.

Extension Programme - Covid-19 Contest by RIT- Ramco
Department of Computer Science and Engineering in association with CSI Students chapter, organized Covid-19 Contest by RIT- Ramco from 01.06.2020 to 05.06.2020 for the school students. Various quizzes were conducted for the first three days on the topic of General Knowledge, Covid-19 Awareness and Python Programming. In addition to that drawing and essay competition on Covid-19 Awareness were conducted for the school students. 70 participants from various schools were actively participated and enjoyed in each contest.
Extension Programme - Art of Python
Ramco Institute of Technology, Department of Computer Science and Engineering in association with Institution of Engineers (IE-CSE) Students Chapter, organized Five Day Art of Python for X, XI, XII School Students from 25rd May to 29th May 2020. More than 160 students from 35 different schools in Chennai, Coimbatore, Tirupur, Trichy, Virudhunagar, Tirunelveli, Madurai Districts participated. Students were taught Python Programming with modern pedagogic techniques like Quizzes, Videos, hand-on-session which helped the students to enjoy online learning. Students felt that the program was very useful to start their Engineering career. The sessions on Art of Python were handled and coordinated by internal faculty members Mrs.V.Anusuya AP(SG)/CSE, Mr.R.Venkatesh AP(SG)/CSE, Mrs.M.Swarna Sudha AP(SG)/CSE, Mr.K.Vignesh Saravanan AP/CSE .The participants expressed that the course was highly informative and useful.

Extension Programme - Game Development using Greenfoot
Department of Computer Science and Engineering and Computer Society of India jointly organized Game Development using Greenfoot for school students from 18.05.2020 to 22.05.2020. 65 number of XI and XII standard school students from various schools like Kendriya Vidyalaya Shalimar Bagh, Keshava Reddy School(Panyam), Sri Ramana Vidyalaya, Valluvar vidhayalaya Matric Higher Secondary School, Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Vinayakar Matric Higher Secondary School registered to the program and they attended very enthusiastically. This program helped them to understand how to develop games using the software Greenfoot which is based on object oriented concepts.

Extension Programme - Computer Programming Course for School Students
Ramco Institute of Technology, Rajapalayam- has conducted the one week school finishing programme on python programming during 22nd to 27th April 2019. In the programme 210 students from 25 different schools around Virudhunagar district participated to enrich their programming skills in python. The vision of this programme is to equip and expose the students to apply python for variety of application development. The programme was packed with fun based learning, quizzes and python puzzles. Sessions are handled by the faculties of CSE department, Prof.Mr.N.Karthikeyan- Physics and Prof.Mr.K.Karpagavel- chemistry. Students thanked the management for conducting such an enlightening programme. Finally certificates are distributed for all the participants by Prof. Dr.N.Jawahar, Principal and Prof. Dr.S.Rajakarunakaran, Vice Principal & Head-Mechanical.

As a part of Institute-Social Responsibility (ISR), One Day Creative Learning Programme was conducted by Department of Computer Science and Engineering for school students (Classes IX, X, XI, XII) on Feb 8th 2019. There was an amazing response from more than 70 participants from various schools in Virudhunagar District. Our IV year students conducted Hands-on session in MIT Scratch, Tinker Cad for the participants and students enjoyed creative learning which hone the learn-by-doing skills. Students were also demonstrated about FireBird Robotics as a part of our e-Yantra programme.

Rajapalayam Ramco Institute of Technology, Department of Computer Science and Engineering organizes a One week free Computer Programming Course (C/C++/Python) for the School Students of Classes X,XI,XII during 07th to 12th May 2018 from 9am-5pm in Computer Centre IV.
