Academic Year 2024 - 2025

Ms. R. Harshani (2017-2021) AP/Civil, National Engineering College, Kovilpati has interacted with I year civil students on 10.09.2024. She insisted the students be active members of professional clubs and societies and also encouraged them to utilize the library in the department as well as the college. In addition to these, she highlighted the mistakes not to be made in four years of college life. She insisted on utilizing each and every minute effectively.

Mr.S.Saravanan(2017-2021) Shanumugam construction, Sivakasi has interacted with I year civil students on 10.09.2024. He explained the construction field in civil engineering involves the planning, designing, and building of infrastructure like roads, bridges, buildings, and dams. It requires expertise in structural analysis, materials science, and project management. Civil engineers ensure safety, durability, and cost-efficiency in construction projects. The field also emphasizes environmental sustainability and efficient resource use. Innovations in construction technology, like automation and green building materials, are shaping the future of civil engineering.

What are the Steps to Secure a Government Building Tender? held by RIT Alumni Association and Department of Civil Engineering on 05/10/2024 for IV year Civil. The resource person for this event was Mr.N.Venkatesh (2017-2021), Government Contractor, Virudhunagar. He has been created the aware of tender projects in government. He insists the keys to securing a tender is understanding the requirements, preparing the right documents, and submitting a strong proposal on time.

Technical Webinar on Solar Water Pumping System was organized by the Department of Civil Engineering in association with RIT IGBC Student Chapter on 28th Oct 2024 at Civil Seminar Hall from 3.30 PM to 04.30 PM. The Resource person for this Guest Lecture was Ms.B.Hema Karthicka (2016-2020), Sustainability Consultant, Grundfos Pumps India Pvt. Limited,Chennai. The resource person explained a solar water pumping system is a technology that uses solar energy to pump water. Its widely used for agricultural irrigation, domestic water supply, and livestock watering in remote areas where grid electricity is unavailable or unreliable.

The RIT-Structa, Department of Civil Engineering, organized a virtual seminar on " Advanced Construction Techniques and Distress Evaluation in Flexible Pavements: Enhancing Durability and Performance " on April 26, 2025, for III-year civil engineering students. Mrs.S.LogaGanesh, Assistant Engineer, Highway Project, Madurai (RIT Alumni), served as Resource person for the session. Mr.Vijay Malliya III Year, Civil & Ramya Sudha III Year, Civil served as Student Coordinators. The event has been conducted in the Google meet platform, 21 third-year Civil Engineering students were actively participated.Event Coordinator provided the welcome address and student coordinator provided the About the Guest speech.

The session on Transforming the World through Sustainability was organized by RIT IGBC Student Chapter in association with Department of Civil Engineering on 21 st August 2025 at Civil Seminar Hall from 10.00 AM to 04.00 PM. The Resource person for this guest lecture was Mr.P.Karthick Raja, Sustainability Engineer, Earthwise Consultant,Madurai. The resource person gave an Introduction about Green Buildings, Why Green Buildings needed and Green Rating System.This session benefited a total of 50 Participants III and IV-year Civil, Mechanical and EE Students. Ms.K P Priya, II year civil proposed the vote of thanks.

Academic Year 2023 - 2024

The Department of Civil Engineering, in association with the RIT Alumni Association, jointly organised a Virtual Alumni Meet for all the passing batches of civil students through the Google Meet platform on September 3, 2023, at 11 a.m. Around 11 students actively participated in the event. Mrs. R. Kalaimani, Assistant Professor, delivered a welcome address to all our faculty members and alumni students, disseminated the vision, mission, and PSO of our department, and presented department progress and facilities. She also presented the scholarship details, admission promotion details, and fee structure. Students felt very happy about the developmental activities carried out over the years, scholarships provided, and fee concessions. Also, alumni members shared their experience and current scenario of industries and their expectations of them. The department faculty members expressed their thoughts and appreciated the achievements of alumni members.

Civil Alumnus Mr. P. Karthick Raja, IGBC AP has interaction with IV Year Civil Students on 27.09.2023. He shared his four years of college experience and motivated the students to actively participate in all events. He insisted the final year civil students to write IGBC exams. He explained about the IGBC AP certification which is a professional certification program that recognizes the individuals who have demonstrated knowledge and expertise in the green building design, construction and operation principles. IGBC AP exams clear your ideas about a green building and its related procedure. Finally, Mr. C.Mahendran IV Civil, genuinely thanked the alumni student for his assistance.

A seminar on Building Bye-Laws was organized by the Department of Civil Engineering in association with RIT ICI Student Chapter on 16th Nov 2023 at Civil Seminar Hall from 2.30 PM to 04.30 PM. The Resource person for this Guest Lecture wasMs. R. Harshani, Assistant Professor, Department of Civil Engineering, National Engineering College, Kovilpatti. The resource person explained the need, objectives, and importance of building bye-laws. She briefed the contents of the National Building Code Compliance Manual. She emphasized the rules and regulations framed by town planning authorities covering the requirements of the building, ensuring the safety of the public through open spaces, minimum size of rooms, height, and area limitations. These regulated building activities lead to a disciplined growth of buildings and better-planned development of towns and cities. 35 Students of II-year Civil Engineering attended the seminar.

RIT IGBC Student Chapter organizes Industrial Gust Lecture on Global Green Initiative on 26.02.2024. The Resource for this event was Civil Alumna Ms.R.Jeyasudha (2017-2021), Sustianability Engineer, LEED GA, Active Score AP, Innoweel Engineering Interanational Pvt Ltd. Sivakasi. She discussing "Global Green Initiatives" and exploring new perspectives was an incredible experience. Around 60 students from civil, EEE and Mechanical were benefited from this program. The faculty coordinator for this event were Mr.T.Chockalingam AP(SG)/Civil and Mr.V.Ragavan, AP/Civil.

Deparment of Civil Engineering in association with RIT Structa organizes a Gust Lecture on Exploration of Steel Structure an Experiential Learning on 18.03.2024. The Resource for this event was Civil Alumna Ms.R.Abinaya (2015-2019), Tekla Modeler, Struct Mech Engineers Pct. Ltd. Bangalore. She explain experiential learning on steel structure.Around 30 Civil students were benefited from this program. The faculty coordinator for this event were Mr.T.Chockalingam AP(SG)/Civil and Mr.V.Ragavan, AP/Civil.

Mr.Thamotharan delivered the making of dry mix products in the Ramco industries on 10.04.2024. He emphasises the importance of selecting the appropriate product for each specific application in the construction industry. By understanding the specific needs of each project, they are able to make informed decisions when it comes to selecting the right dry mix product. Around 30 II year Civil students were participated in this program.


Academic Year 2022 - 2023

Civil Engineering Alumnus Mr.S.Marutharaj (2015 - 2019 Batch), Assistant Manager, The Ramco Cements Limited, R.R. Nagar, Virudhunagar addressed the I year Civil Engineering students on November 8, 2022. He advised students to set a career goal, such as Campus placement/Competitive examination/Higher study at the beginning of their first year and to prepare for it. Also, He advised the students to become strong in Basics of Civil Engineering with practical knowledge through attending Internship/In-Plant Training and shared his experience in the presence of Dr.S.Dharmar, HOD/Civil, Mr.G.Karthikeyan, AP(Sr.Gr.)/Civil and Mr.V.Ragavan AP/Civil. Around 30 students participated in this alumni interaction.

Civil Engineering Alumni Mr.Hari Pracash & Mr.Selva Ashvanth (2017 - 2021 Batch), addressed the I year Civil Engineering students on November 07, 2022. They advised the students to become strong in Basics of Civil Engineering with practical knowledge through attending Internship/In-Plant Training and shared his experience in the presence of Mr.V.Ragavan AP/Civil. Around 30 students participated in this alumni interaction.

2nd Project Review conducted for the course CE8711 - Creative and Innovative Project Work on 08.11.2022 for VII semester B.E. Civil Engineering Students in the presence of Industrial expert (Alumnus) Mr.S.Marutharaj, Assistant Manager, The Ramco Cements Limited, R.R. Nagar, Virudhunagar and Project Review Committee Members Dr.S.Dharmar, HoD/Civil, Mr.G.Karthikeyan, AP(SG)/Civil and Dr.M.Indhumathi, AP/Civil.

A Guest Lecture on An overview on TEKLA Software was organized by the Department of Civil Engineering in association with RIT STRUCTA on 26th April 2023 at Civil Seminar Hall. The Resource person for this workshop was our distinguished alumna Ms.R.Abinaya, Tekla Modeller, Struct Mech Engineers Pvt. Ltd., Bangalore from 2016-2020 batch. She explained about Tekla software and its recent advancements in the design field especially in steel buildings. She also explained the step by step procedure on analyzing a building using the software. This workshop benefited a total of 66 Participants II- & III- Year Civil Engineering Students.

The Guest Lecture on Third Eye in the sky was organized by the Department of Civil Engineering in association with RIT STRUCTA on 4th March 2023 at Civil Seminar Hall The Resource person for this workshop was our distinguished alumnus Er.M.Ponkumaran, Pilot Drone Trainer from 2015-2019 batch. The Resource Person shared his deep knowledge on drone surveying and also about the oppurtunities in it. He also explained the importance of knowing software utilized in drone surveying. He shared the details on how to get certification as drone pilot. This workshop benefited a total of 52 Participants II- & III- Year Civil Engineering Students.

Expert Lecture on A Career in Sustainable Building Industry was organized by the Department of Civil Engineering in association with RIT IGBC Student Chapter on 09th March 2023 at Civil Seminar Hall (Resource Person joined through Google Meet) from 03.00 PM to 4.00 PM. The Resource person for this workshop was Mr. P. Karthick Raja (Batch 2018 2022), Consulting Engineer, Conserve Consultants Pvt. Ltd. Chennai. The resource person gave lecture on introduction about green constructions, its environmental and societal benefits, the certifications associated with green buildings, procedures for clearing green building related certifications and their scope and job opportunities in green building constructions. This workshop benefited a total of 50 Participants II- & III-year Civil Engineering Students of RIT.

Academic Year 2021 - 2022

Civil Alumni Mr. M.N.Shiva Surya Vignesh, Graduate Civil Engineer, Smythe Contractors, Waikato, New Zealand & Mr.R.Deva Murugan (Batch 2015 2019), Entrepreneur addressing the First year civil engineering students on 27.10.2021 through Google Meet platform. They discussed about the higher studies & opportunities in abroad, How to become Entrepreneur and shares their college experience.

Civil Alumna Er. R.Jeyasudha (Batch 2017 2021) from Innowell Engineering International Pvt. Ltd, Sivakasi & addressing the IV year civil engineering students on 03.11.2021. She discussed about the preparation for placement and opportunities in Innowell Engineering Pvt. Ltd., and working environment.

Civil Alumnus Mr. A. Thamotharan (Batch 2016 2020) from Ramco Cements Ltd, Virudhunagar & addressing the II,III & IV Civil engineering students on 12.11.2021. He discussed about the working environment and shared his experience.

Department of Civil Engineering in association with the RIT Alumni Association jointly organized a Virtual Alumni Meet for the Civil Engineering Graduates through Google Meet Platform on May 15, 2022. The Alumni gave various suggestions/feedback for the department development activities.

Ltd, Erode interacted with the DAC members Er.M.Ravikumar, Dr.S.Nagan, Mr.S.Dharmar, Mr.G.Karthikeyan, Mr.P.Sureshkumar, Mr.R.Venkatesh, Dr.R.Subasree and Dr. M.Anand during 1st Department Advisory Committee meeting held on 20th July 2019 at Civil Seminar Hall.

Mr.R.Deva Murugan from Ramco Cements Ltd., Virudhunagar, Ms.P.Deepa Jothi and Mr.M.N.Shiva Surya Vignesh (Batch 2015 2019) Alumni of Civil Engineering, addressing the Third and Final year Civil Engineering students on 30.08.2019 and 31.08.2019.They discussed about the working environment and shares their college experience.

Er.P.Ananthavel, Er.P.Kannan and Er.B.Sorna Sundar talked on the topic How to face 2021?. Around 27 students actively participated in the event.

Department of Civil Engineering, Ramco Institute of Technology conducted a webinar on 06.06.2020 (Saturday) & 07.06.2020 (Sunday) 04.00PM to 05.00PM in association with RIT Alumni Association through Google Meet platform. Er.K.Vijay, Er.S.Loga Ganesh, Er.V.Thanupriya and Er.N.Muthu Prakash talked on the topic Opportunities for Budding Civil Engineers. Around 34 students actively participated in the event.
