WORKSHOP AND SEMINARS
A Seminar on The Department of Civil Engineering, in association with RIT-STRUCTA, conducted a seminar on Basics of Vibration Analysis and Seismic Resistant Structures on October 31, 2023 in the Civil Seminar Hall from 2.30 pm to 4.00 pm. The resource person for the session was Dr. C. Freeda Christy, Professor, Civil Engineering, Kalasalingam Academy of Research and Education, Krishnankoil. She explained different types of vibration and demonstrated the seismic analysis of buildings using STAAD Pro. 20 students from the IV year Civil Engineering benefited from the program. A Seminar on Preface to ArcGIS was organized by the Department of Civil Engineering (Association: RIT Structa) on 25th September 2023 at B3L05 Hall from 02.30 PM to 04.00 PM. The Resource person for this Guest Lecture was Mr. J. Suresh Anand, IV Year, B.E. Civil Engineering, Ramco Institute of Technology, Rajapalayam. He explained the basics of the Geographic Information System. He demonstrated a sample project on Site Selection of Airport by using ArcGIS Software. He also explained the future scope of GIS for various Civil Engineering applications. Around 34 participants of II-year Civil Engineering Students attended this seminar. Faculty Coordinators Mrs. C. One day Workshop on Designing and Detailing of Structures". "Dr. A. Rajasekar Assistant Professor (Selection Grade), Department of Civil Engineering, Thiagarajar College of Engineering was the resource person for this session. Around 18 participants from IV year, Civil attended this workshop. Faculty coordinators are Dr. M. Indhumathi (Associate Professor), and Mr.V.Ragavan, Assistant Professor, Civil Engineering, RIT.
Department of Civil Engineering, in association with the RIT ICI Students chapter, organized a Workshop on Simulation & Design of Building Using STAAD Pro on 24.02.2023. Mr. R. Muruganatham, Assistant Professor, Civil Engineering Department, Ramco Institute of Technology, Rajapalayam, was the resource person for the event. Around 47 Participants II & III-year Civil Engineering Students of various Polytechnics Colleges attended this workshop. Faculty coordinators are Mrs. C. Subha, Assistant Professor (Senior Grade), Mrs. R. Kalaimani, Assistant Professor, and Mr. V. Ragavan, Assistant Professor, Civil Engineering, RIT.
A one day Workshop on Mapping using Total station & GPS was organized by the Department of Civil Engineering in association with RIT Structa on 10.02.2023. First, Second and Third-year civil engineering diploma students from various Polytechnic Colleges of Tamilnadu participated, gained field experience on Total station & GPS and gathered knowledge about emerging technologies in Surveying. Dr. M.S. Dharmar, Head of the Department, Civil Engineering and Mr.A.Manickamamallan, Assistant Professor, Civil Engineering were the resource persons for this workshop. The practical field experience of using total station and EDM was given by Mr.G.Karthikeyan, AP(SG)/Civil, Mr.A.Manicka Mamallan, AP/Civil, Mrs.D.Darling Helen Lydia, AP/Civil and Mr.A.Arumugaganesh, Surveying Lab Technician. Mrs.A.Leema Margret, AP/Civil and Mr.T.Chockalingam, AP(SG)/Civil coordinated the entire workshop.
Department of Civil Engineering, in association with RIT- Institutions Innovation Council (RIT-IIC), organized a National level workshop on AN OVERVIEW OF PATENTS & PROCEDURE FOR PROTECTION on 20.01.2023. Mrs. Suganya Jayavelu, Patent Analyst, Puthran & Associates, Chennai, was a resource for this event. Around 100 Participants (Research Scholars, Faculty, and Students) from all over the state attended this workshop. Faculty coordinators are Mrs. C. Subha, Assistant Professor (Senior Grade), Mrs. R. Kalaimani, Assistant Professor, and Mrs. A. Leema Margret, Assistant Professor, Civil Engineering, RIT.
Department of civil engineering in association with RIT Structa organized a workshop on the topic MATLAB-A modeling tool for civil engineering applications on 9th Mar. 2022 for III, IV civil students. Dr.Surendran.M, Senior Scientist, CSIR_SERC, Taramani, Chennai-600113 & Dr. Karthiga Shenbagam. N, Assistant Professor, Bannari Amman Institute of Technology delivered lectures on the topic. Dr.M.Indhumathi, Assistant Professor, Civil Engineering, RIT was the organizing secretary of the event. A One day Workshop on Analysis and Design of Structures using STAAD.Pro V8i was conducted on August 31, 2019. Dr.P.Kathirvel, M.E., Ph.D., Professor, Department of Civil Engineering, Kamarajar college of engineering, Virudhunagar was the resource person for this workshop.
A One day Training Programme on Etabs 16 was organised by the Department of Civil Engineering on 11.07.2018 for the IV year B.E. Civil Engineering students and faculty members of Civil Engineering Department N.Manivasagam, Senior Structural Engineer, CSI Engineering Software Pvt. Ltd., Bangalore was the resource person.
One day workshop on Analysis and Design of Structures Using STAAD.Pro was handled by Dr.S.Nagan, working as an Associate Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering in Thiagarajar College of Engineering, Madurai on 13th August 2017 for III Civil Engineering Students.
One day workshop on Architectural Design, Interior Design & Landscape Design in Built Environment was handled by Mr.S.Santhana Iyyappa Sundararaj M.Arch (Landscape) working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Architecture in Thiagarajar College of Engineering, Madurai on 20th August 2016 for III Civil Engineering Students
