Elite English Learners Club has been established by the Department of English of Ramco Institute of Technology for helping students to enhance their Communication Skills. As part of the clubs initiative, extra-curricular activities are regularly conducted for the students to acquire proficiency over language traits and fine-tune their language skills.

KNOW YOUR ENGLISH-FACULTY QUIZ
The Elite English Learners Club sends Know Your English posts via mail to all faculty members, highlighting the errors in English noticed on the college campus. This is done in order to help the faculty identify and correct errors in English while using the language. In line with this, a Know Your English Quiz was conducted on 22.08.22 for the faculty of RIT. 30 faculty members took the quiz within the stipulated time. The winners are:

NATIONAL ONLINE ESSAY WRITING COMPETITION
The Office of the Controller and Auditor General (CAG) of the government of India conducted a National Online Essay Writing Competition from 16.08.22 to 15.09.22 to commemorate Audit Diwas. In line with this, students of colleges and universities in Tamilnadu were invited to participate and submit essays on any of the following topics:

FIRST-YEAR STUDENT INDUCTION PROGRAM
On behalf of the club various literary events such as Riddles, Who Am I Game, Connexions, Would I Lie Activity, Pictionary, Charades and Tongue Twister were conducted for the newly-admitted I year students. The events were coordinated by the Student Coordinators of various departments.
FUNSOME ENGLISH CONTEST
The contest was conducted on 30 & 31 December 2021, exclusively for I-year students. It had 3 rounds, namely, 'Rap Reckon', 'Word Sword' and 'One to One'. Winners from each round were shortlisted for the next round all the way to the Finals. Totally, 28 students from various branches of I year participated. The winners are as follows:

FUNRITZ'21
As part of FUNRITZ 21, the Elite English Learners Club conducted an event titled Star Songsters from 22.02.2021 to 26.02.2021. Participants were asked to sing karaoke of English songs. Totally 64 students from 22 schools from places like Srivilliputhur, Rajapalayam, Tirunelveli, Tenkasi, Chennai, Tuticorin, Madurai, Kovilpatti, Virudunagar etc. had registered and 13 were shortlisted for the preliminary round. After the preliminary round, 7 candidates were further shortlisted for the final round. The final was conducted on 25.02.2021 at 6.30 pm through Google Meet. Mr. Nainar Shankar, Music Composer and Sound Engineer, Rajapalayam acted as the Jury member. 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize winners were given trophies and certificates. All participants were given e-certificates.
INTERNATIONAL WEBINAR
An international webinar on Building a peaceful Society During & Beyond Covid19: Engineers in Action was organized by the club on 29.06.2020. Ms Deepti Singh, Programme Coordinator, The Global Summit, Tokyo, Japan was the resource person. 136 participants from across India attended the webinar. The Faculty coordinator for the programme was Dr G. Godson Bedeiah, Asst. Professor (SG), department of English. K. Sathya Prakash (IV CSE), V.R. Aswin (IV Mechanical Engg.) and R. Jenani Rajkumari (IVCSE) were the student coordinators.
WEBINAR ON NUANCES OF RESUME WRITING
A webinar titled Nuances of Resume Writing was organised by the Elite English Learners Club on 9th October 2020 at 5.30 P.M. via Google meet, for the benefit of the students appearing for placement interviews. Dr. M. Anish Alfred Vaz, Assistant Professor (S.G) acted as the resource person. 70 participants from various engineering, paramedical and arts and science colleges from across India attended and benefitted from the webinar.
SHOOT N CORRECT COMPETITION
The Elite English Learners Club organized an event titled Shoot n Correct for I, II & III year Engineering students from 01.12.2020-10.12.2020. S. Srinandhini Priya, I ECE-B won the overall championship.
MAGIC ENGLISH COMPETITION
The Elite English Learners Club conducted a competition titled Magic English for school students of classes VIII to XII from 26th to 30th May, 2021. Students had to answer questions that tested their English Vocabulary, Anagramming Skills, General Knowledge, Creativity and Quick Thinking Abilities. 242 students from over 15 schools across Tamil Nadu, such as Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Rajapalayam, Chinmaya Vidyalaya Srimathi Lingammal Ramaraju Mat. Hr. Sec. School, Rajapalayam, PACR Ammani Ammals Girls Hr Sec School, Rajapalayam, Srivi Lions International School, Srivilliputtur, Srivi Lions Matric.Hr.Sec.School, Srivilliputtur, The Vikasa School, Tuticorin, The Gugai Higher Secondary School, Salem, Arumugham PalaniGuru Chatrapatti, Dharani Matric Higher Secondary School, Thiruvarur etc. participated actively. Their responses were evaluated and the following students were selected as winners.

FUNRITZ19 2.0
FUNRITZ19 2.0 an interschool competition was organised on 27.08.2019. As part of the programme, Elite English Learners Club organized an event Aladdin and the Magic lamp. Almost 150 students from various schools participated in the event.
Awareness and Orientation Program on Scrabble Event:
Elite English Learners Club organized Awareness and Orientation program on Scrabble Event on 31.08.2019. Mr.Ranganath Chakravarthy, the founder of Madras Scrabble Foundation was the Resource Person. He has represented India in the World Scrabble Championship 2019.
In-house Scrabble Tournament:
An In-house Scrabble Tournament was conducted at Ramco Institute of Technology from 24.09.19 to 21.10.19. Totally, 112 students (paired as 56 teams) from all branches and years of Engineering participated. S. GOKUL & B. DHIVAHAR (IV Civil) were the Overall Scrabble Champions 2019 and S. L. LALKRISHNA & P. ARI KRISHNAN (III Mech-A) were the Overall Scrabble Runners 2019.
Picture Prompted Monologue and Taboo:
Elite English Learners Club organized Picture Prompted Monologue and Taboo for the II, III and IV year students on 06.01.2020. The best performers of the preliminary round were evaluated in Round II.
Eng Wizard:
Elite English Learners Club conducted Eng Wizard, a tri-series language learning activity for I year students on 30.01.2020 in the Language Lab. The students participated in the activities actively and solved Word Puzzles, said Tongue Twisters and delivered a Minute Talk.
National Communication Skills Challenge 2019
Department of English conducted National Communication Skills Challenge 2019 in association with ICT Academy and the Hindu on 30.01.2020 and 31.01.2020 in the Language Lab. Hundred III year students enrolled for this English Proficiency Test. On successful completion of the test, they received a self-assessment report. Inaugural Function:
The association of English department Elite English Learners Club was inaugurated on 4th August, 2018 for the academic year of 2018-19. Dr.J.John Sekar, Associate Professor and Head (UG) & Research, American College, Madurai was the Chief Guest of the Inaugural. Dr J. John Sekar, the Chief Guest of the day delivered his prestigious talk on the topic Importance of English in the Society.
ELYSIA18:
A group of 15 members and a faculty from the Elite English Learners club of our college visited Shri Ramaswamy Naidu Memorial (SRNM) College to participate in the Inter-collegiate competition (ELYSIA18) on 23rd August, 2018. Under the Literary Skit, our team secured the First place.
Techyuga18:
Ramco Institute of Technology organizes Techyuga, an inter-collegiate technical symposium in the college every year. This year Techyuga18 was conducted on 31st August, 2018. Spell Bee, Dumb Charade, Short Story Enacting and Singing were conducted for the internal participants. 12 students were selected for the Final round from which two winners were selected.
Legacy18:
Mepco Schlenk Engineering College, Sivakasi organized Legacy18 on August 31st and September 1st. Nearly 20 students from our college participated in Treasure Hunt, Yoga, Maruvarthai and Pencil Drawing. C. Rama Devi, IV EEE and S. Gokul, II Civil won first prize in Maruvathai a speech competition and brought laurels to our institution.
Engineers Day Celebrations
Elite English Learners Club organized competitions as a part of Engineers Day Celebrations on September 15, 2018. Turn Coat, Spell Bee and Dumb Charade were organized by the Club. Top two performers of each event were announced as the winners of the events respectively.
YUVA Youth Fest 2K18
In a two-day National Techno-Cultural Management Festival YUVA Youth Fest 2K18 celebrated over two days on 27th and 28th December, 2018 in Kongu Engineering College, Perundurai, our students have participated in many cultural events and bagged four cash prizes in Dance (Rs. 1000), Treasure Hunt (Rs. 1000), Photography (Rs. 1000)and Pencil Drawing (Rs. 500).
Mahatma Gandhis 150th Birthday Celebration:
Elite English Learners Club of Ramco Institute of Technology, Rajapalayam organized Literary Events to commemorate Mahatma Gandhis 150th Birth Anniversary Celebrations with reference to F.No. AICTE/P&4P/Misc./150th Mahatma Gandhi/2018 in the Language Lab on 13.02.2019 between 5:00pm and 6:60pm. The following three events were organized: Essay Writing Competition, Group Discussion and Slogan Writing.
Srijana19:
Ramco Institute of Technology extols the extra-ordinary performances of the final year EEE students in Srijana19 - an Intercollegiate Fest conducted at PSG Institute of Management, Coimbatore on 4th and 5th January, 2019. They have bagged Cash Prizes in Photography (Rs. 6000) and Quiz (Rs. 4000).

Gandhi Jeyanthi
Elite English Learners Club conducted Extempore, Poetry, Essay Writing and Debate for celebrating Gandhi Jeyanthi on October 2. The competitions were conducted on 26 & 27 September, 2017 in the language lab between 5.00p.m. and 6.30 p.m.
Republic Day Celebration:
Elite English Learners Club conducted JAM, Group Discussion, Turn Coat, Poster Making, Essay Writing, Stress Interview, Presentation and Game to motivate the students and to improve their communicating skills. The competitions were conducted in the language lab.
TECHYUGA
During TECHYUGA two events were conducted namely JAM (Just A Minute), Turncoat. JAM was conducted first. The Students were asked to take slots. Then Turncoat was conducted straight away and many students from JAM participated in this event. The event came to an end by providing prizes to the students with top three marks in each event.
Elite English Learners Club organized an event Aladdin and the Magic lamp for school students as a part of Funritz19. The event was co-ordinated by M.Sudha, the President and S. Gokul, the Vice President. Almost 150 students from various schools participated in the event. The students were split into teams of five members. The preliminary round Dumb Charades was conducted, out of which 14 teams were shortlisted. The second round was Connections. Picture clues were displayed from which students had to find the appropriate word. The top 10 teams were scrutinized which entered the final round Treasure Hunt. Students were given the hint of the first place from which they had to find the successive places relating the hint and had to reach the final destination. The team which came out first with the treasure was awarded with 1st prize. Students gave positive feedback that they enjoyed exploring the campus of RIT during Treasure Hunt. The event was a great success.
The Elite English Learners Club was inaugurated on 7th August, 2017. Dr. T.Gunasekaran, Academic Advisor, Cheran Group of Institutions, Karur was the chief guest. Mr.N.Sathesh (IV EEE) and Ms.N.Rajalakshmi (IV ECE-B) were appointed as President and Secretary of the club respectively.
In the academic year 2017-18, Elite English Learners Club organized many events for school and college students to promote their English language. In Techyuga-17, the club conducted two events for the school students: Just A Minute (JAM) and Turn Coat on 14th September, 2017. Around 50 participants participated in the event and the prize winners were awarded in the valedictory ceremony of Techyuga17.
Around 4 competitions were conducted on the eve of Gandhi Jeyanthi. Debate and Poetry were conducted on 3-10-2017 and Essay writing and Extempore competition were conducted on 4-10-2017. Around 20 participants from various departments of our college participated and prize winners were awarded with certificates.
National Science Day was celebrated on 28th February, 2018. The Elite English Learners Club conducted events like Just A Minute (JAM), Group Discussion, Turn Coat, Poster Making, Essay Writing, Presentation, Stress Interview and Eng-Wizard for college students and JAM and Eng-Wizard for school students. Around 100 participants actively participated in all the events. Prize winners were rewarded on the Science Day Prize Distribution ceremony and participant certificates were issued to the participants.
